HARTLINE

PROTECTIVE ENCLOSUREThe Best Protection for Your Telemetry monitor

EKG telemetry provides unparalleled safety for countless critically ill and

recovering patients. In our own hospital we have seen the number of beds

served by EKG telemetry double every five years. Once found only in the

cardiac care unit, EKG telemetry can now be found on pulmonary, renal,

medical, and surgical units as well as in cardiac rehabilitation and emergency

departments. At present almost one out of every four beds at our hospital is

designated for EKG telemetry.

The acquisition and maintenance of EKG telemetry transmitters now represents a necessary major investment for acute care hospitals. In our heart center we became concerned by the frequency with which these expensive transmitters were damaged. Droppage, food and beverage spills, contamination by body fluids, wound drainage and even attempts by patients to bathe or shower kept many units in the repair shop at considerable expense. Of even greater concern was the possibility that a contaminated transmitter might serve as a vehicle for the spread of infection from one patient to another, The cloth and foam pouches currently in use to allow patients to carry the transmitters provide no protection and compound the problem of contamination.

These concerns led our group to develop the HartLine Protective Enclosure. This shock and water resistant device made of impact absorbing, non-allergenic, bacteriostatic plastic provides complete protection for the telemetry transmitter while at the same time guarding the patient against the risk of cross-contamination from previous users of the transmitter. The HartLine Enclosure is comfortable and even permits the patient to shower while wearing the monitor.EKG telemetry protects thousands of patients every day. Protect your telemetry monitors with the HartLine Protective Enclosure.

Case Study:

The Johnson Medical Center in Charleston has installed units for use in their cardiac

care facility:

On behalf of the 4 BS telemetry unit, I would like to say that the protective

enclosures for the telemetry monitors has been a great help to us. It has served us

so far on repairs and it keeps the monitors a lot cleaner. We use them mostly on our

combative patients and it has certainly kept the monitors from having needless

repairs. We also use them in our isolation rooms. They help to keep the monitors

from being exposed to bodily fluids and other types of contaminants. Our Bio-med

Engineers are also very pleased with the effectiveness of the protective enclosures.

Endorsement:

I recently had the pleasure of viewing the Cardiac Telemetry Protective

Enclosure designed by HartLine Technology. I was impressed by their ingenuity

and concern for patient comfort. HartLine Technology has responded to a

concern of our telemetry patient population and developed quite an innovative

device.

Telemetry patients have repeatedly voiced concerns about not being able to

shower because of the necessity of having their heart rhythm monitored at all

times. Not being allowed to shower can serve to increase the stress of their

hospital stay.

This protective enclosure helps to achieve patient satisfaction in several ways.

It will contribute to patient satisfaction, meet the doctor's expectation that this

patient's heart rhythm will be constantly observed and it protects the telemetry

unit. I look forward to seeing this very innovative device used in our hospital.
