YMCA holds Community Food drive to lower joining fees…..

The YMCA of Harrison County has partnered with Harrison County Community Services

(HCCS) to host a food drive for the month of December. During the month of December, new

members will get $5 off of their joining fee for every can of food, soup or box of cereal they bring to

the Y. This offer is good for amount of joining fee, up to $90.00 for a household membership. HCCS

provides many forms of crisis assistance to families in need within our county, whether from natural

disaster or impoverishment.

The North Harrison 8th grade Student Council President

Megan Smith presents James Goldman a check for The Betty R.

Goldman Memorial Relay For Life Fund. HCCF provided a 2:1

match for this contribution.

The council’s project was a haunted house for the students to

tour during lunch. “The student council members worked very hard

and gave up their free time to accomplish this project,” states

Jamie Polk, Student Council sponsor.

Members of the Harrison County Youth as Philanthropists Nolan Berkley and Rachel Butler conduct

the last phase of their November fundraiser at Lanesville Community Schools. Nolan and Rachel

held quarter wars in their school classrooms to help raise money for the youth philanthropy

endowment. The classroom teacher with the lowest score and the highest score from both Lanes-

ville Elementary & Lanesville Jr./Sr. High School had to karaoke in front of the student body.

Lanesville Community School Corporation faculty Harriette Seiler, Tim Bridges, Lindsay Davis and

Erin Green were the lucky “winners”!

such a success. A total of over $285,000 in contributions was received with matching funds over
