The language we used to develop our product was Java. We used Java because vast array of 3rd party libraries, huge amount of documentation available, platform ubiquitous, excellent performance, excellent specification, sturdy garbage collection and managed memory.

We are using Amazon Web Services EC2 Server for image storage, upload and download. Also to run PHP files to query the Database and return JSON back to the Application.

Also with Amazon Web Services we used their Managed Rational Database System to store application data.

We chose AWS for their stability, security, and reasonably low costs.
