with a Warm Heart Did you know that they have stopped teaching children to write in cursive in many schools? What a tragedy! I think of the time I spent making long flowing lines and how the girls always seemed to get it better than the boys did. It’s sad that we might lose the art of shaping our letters and not just use them as blunt instruments of communication. Then I thought, when was the last time I used cursive? If you count the chicken scratch I use at the grocery store counter to pay for my groceries, you could say at least once or twice a week. But when was the last time I sat down and really used it to write more than my name? It has been a long time. Why then should I expect children to learn something I don’t even use? There are many times that I consider how the world is not as good, not as pure, not as faithful as it used to be. At the same time, the world often is as good, as pure, as faith-filled as I make it on this day. One of the great strengths of our church is that much of the good, the pure, and the faith that we experience each Sun- day is what we bring through the door. How is that for pressure? We are responsible for the faith and the feeling of our church. Even when I am not at my best if I don’t decide to write in cursive.. why should I expect others to? Jesus says, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” John 15. Today I have the chance to bear more fruit. I have the chance make the world a fruit-filled, good, and faith-filled place. Maybe I should pick up a pen and see what I can do for Jesus.

April 2015

Did you know that they have stopped teaching children to write in cursive in many schools? One of the great strengths of our church is that much of the good, the pure, and the faith that we experience each Sun-day is what we bring through the door.

To the Hardy Family,

To say “Thank You” doesn’t seem to be

enough. You are special to the Swanger, Hensley and

Copeland families. You were very special to Ken and

JoAnn Swanger. You are definitely a church with an

enormous heart filled with love and compassion.

A special thank you goes to Carol & Barbara

Means, Bob Bell, Jerry Black, Tamara Hackett, Greg &

Nona Phillips, Brother Preston and Joe Strickland. We

could not have gotten through the last three or four

months without your love, prayers and support.

Thank you for the food, phone calls and

cards. If you said a prayer and thought about us, God

bless you. May God richly bless each and every

member of Hardy.

Imaging Center. Please make plans to join us for this meaningful

experience.

April 2nd: 6:00pm - Maundy Thursday Passover Seder Feast will be held at

the church. This will be a very special service so please make plans to at-

Has Risen! Join us for special music and a meaningful message of faith

and resurrection.

Hardy’s Food Pantry

Thank you HARDY members for bringing food and making donations for the Food Pantry. It has been one

year since the church began giving bags of groceries and fresh bread to approximately forty families in the

community. The dedicated and compassionate group of volunteers have seen what hunger looks like first

hand. These families are just like all families who are trying hard to make ends meet. The faces and needs

vary, but gratitude of the recipients is in their smiles and hugs. Prayer request is a big part of the ministry.

We pray for our families, and we ask them to pray for our ministry.

We would like to say a special thank you to Nona Phillips, Mary Ann Davis, Carolyn deBie, Judy Matthews

and Alice McVey and the UMW Generations group. Your generosity has become the hands and feet of Christ.

Please consider becoming an active part of the pantry ministry by bringing food or helping on the 3rd

Wednesday of the month. You can contact Gloria Elmore for more information about helping at 903-278-9935

or [email protected]. You will be blessed!

THIS MONTH WE ARE ASKING FOR : Canned vegetables and canned meat

Blessings,

Gloria Elmore
