Richardson as Pagliaccio

Little Rock Opera Likes Our Singers

Morgan Richardson, post graduate music major from Bellewood, Ill., was chosen for the star role in "Pagliacci," presented this month in the Robinson Memorial auditorium in Little Rock. In the other half of the twin bill, "Cavalleria Rusticana," Charlene Harris, junior English major, was picked to sing the part of Mama Lucia. The A Cappella Chorus contributed 25 members to t he choral efforts of the two operas.

Richardson, who has shown great versatility and talent in other roles, has been such an outstanding success in the lead of "Pagliacci" that he has gained considerable fame both here and at Chicago for his sup e r b performances, and was therefore the natural choice for the Little Rock presentation.

Prof. Kenneth Davis, who triumphed in Little Rock last spring in "Rigoletto," will sing as Turridu in "Cavalleria Rusticana."

Modern Apartments Nearing Completion For Next Semester

Married students are carefully watching the steady progress of construction on the new 60-unit housing project which will be partly ready for occupancy by the beginning of the spring semester. Exterior brick work and roofing has been completed. Electricians, plumbers, lathers, plasterers, tile setters, and painters are in the process of creeping through unit-after-unitwith the result that present plans indicate that one large building will have all units ready for anxious families before February.

When completed, the entire project will provide 52 one-bedroom apartments which also have living room sleeping accommodations, and eight two-bedroom suites. Space is budgeted with maximum efficiency which still provides adequate roominess. Each of the furnished suites will be equipped with the latest in modern appliances. Laundry rooms with automatic washers and dryers are located in the center of each of the three buildings.

All automobile traffic will be confined to the rear of the buildings, with the large center plaza reserved for landscaping and play areas.

Academy Queen Naito Jean Berryhill Intramur,,! Queer. Nelda Roach

Queens Of Academy And College Sports Twice recently, Wildcat Stadium

has seen a football queen crowned. On October 23, Academy Homecoming Day, Naita Jean Berryhill, daughter of a t hIe tic director "Pinky" Berryhill, was crowned homecoming queen by football captain Timmy Rhodes amid thundering cheers of the crowd and her own tears of complete surprise. A better I-eason for tears came later as the Wildcats lost 20-7.

On November 1, the college intramural tackle football program came to a thrilling close with a 14-8 game that wouldn't be settled until a last-second fumble by the losing All Stars of the West. Prior to the game, Nelda Roach, Spring Lake, Tex., junior was crowned queen of the intramurals by Dean of Students James Atkinson. She witnessed the game from her special flower-moon throne.

Apartments for married students, lower left, are near enough to completion to show thei,· from to !Jassers-by. The new track 01 Alumni Field is at the extreme left, with baseball and other sports facilities beyond the left edge of the picture. The main campus is in the background, and faculty homes are in the right foreground facing the college park. When pavin) is complete, Harding Drive will form a "U" around the park. A new row of faculty housing has already begun on the new end of Harding Drive.
