f the word “hardbody” could be found in Webster’s Dictionary, the photo with the definition would be new IFBB Figure Pro Angela Mraz. But it wasn’t always that way. “I first started training because I’d gained 20 lbs. after having my son and I wasn’t happy with my body,” explains Angela of her start in fitness 11 years ago. “I began to train with weights with the intent of getting in the best possible shape.” Fast forward to today and it’s safe to say Angela’s hard work and dedication have paid off. Not only does the 5’ 2”, 105 lb. beauty own four World Figure, the Best Body Swimsuit and NPC Team Universe Masters titles, she’s embarking on a new career as an IFBB Figure Pro in 2010 – at the age of 39! No worries though, because Angela says she feels like a teenager thanks to her training, diet and MHP supplements. “Training is one of the most important things in my life,” she says. “A perfect physique only comes with passion, dedication and commitment. I am always striving to improve.” On Monday Angela trains chest and triceps; Tuesday is for back and biceps; and on Wednesday she’ll train quads, hamstrings and calves. Each Thursday she works shoulders, traps and abs; on Friday it’s cardio only; followed by quads and calves again on Saturday. Sunday is a day of well-deserved rest. Angela keeps most sets in the 8-12 rep range, training to failure, and she aims for 6-12 sets per body part. Angela eats 5 meals a day. Each feeding includes protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. Her protein comes equally from fish, eggs, chicken or turkey, while her carbs of choice include steamed veggies, oatmeal, sweet potatoes and rice. “Supplementation is a key part of my success in the gym and on stage,” Angela PERFORMANCE & TRAINING MHP HARDBODY explains. “If you aren’t taking the proper nutritional products, you are wasting valuable training time.” Angela’s favorite supplements include MHP’s Probolic-SR timed release protein, Glutamine-SR, TRAC creatine and Activite multi-vitamin. She also relies on the amazing fatburning DREN thermogenic for getting lean when she’s in precontest mode, plus MHP’s powerful herbal diuretic XPEL. “XPEL is amazing!” exclaims Angela. “I typically lose 4 to 6 lbs. in just 2 days when getting ready for a photo shoot or competition. I would never compete without it!” Angela’s 2010 IFBB pro competition plans included stops at the Arnold Classic, Pittsburgh Pro and New York Pro, where she fared well in all in her first year on the pro circuit. But she also offers tips to women of all levels who want to change their bodies for the better. “When starting a training program,” Angela advises, “always set goals. It’s also important to use top-notch nutritional supplements from MHP. I know they work because they’ve helped me over my entire career!” I By Steve Downs, C.S.C.S.
