1 The holiday season is upon us! This is the time of the year that we must make a concerted effort to support our fellow local businesses. I am going to make a concerted effort to do all of my holiday shopping in Ramona. I challenge our members to make the same commitment. Only by supporting each other can we lift the economic profile of Ramona in general. And we have so many unique and interesting merchandise and services. Support our local businesses through the holiday season and throughout the entire year! The Chamber recently had board elections. Welcome to our incoming directors Patrick Osio, Kevin Brown, Leigh Eisen, Madison Kirkman and yours truly. I know each of these individuals and know that they will bring incredible energy and passion to the position. Remember that these are volunteer positions and embarking on this service shows a commitment to our town and the business community. There is a lot expected of directors, and they always step up to the plate. Kevin Brown and Leigh Eisen have already proven their commitment through the time and energy they have put into committees and events. It will be an exciting year. The flip side of the happiness with our new board members is seeing some board members depart. Each of us owes a debt of gratitude to Heidi Sam, Stacy Bart and Heather McGhee. Heidi ran the Ramona Country Fair last year and did a phenomenal job. Stacy Bart served as Vice President and part of the marketing committee and was almost singlehandedly responsible for maintaining the Chambers social media presence. Heather did the preliminary planning for Taste of Ramona and was always at events to lend a hand, take photos and bring her insights to the table. They will be missed. We spend so much time together as board directors, we become like a family, so it is hard to say good bye to these members of the Chamber family. But I know they will still be a part of the Chamber and invest in its activities, as that is the kind of people they are. As the end of the year approaches, it is important to highlight the contributions of some individuals which transcended the expected. First and foremost, our staff. Joe, Olivia and Michelle are treasures and are solely responsible for the smooth and expansive involvements of the Chamber. They do the work of an army, and I have to beg Joe to take time off! Joe runs the Chamber efficiently and completely, and he does whatever Olivia says. A great team which I hope we keep together for a long time. Karen Domnitz is to be commended on running the Fair this year. It was smooth and extensive, with new shows, activities and events. Karen put in lots of hours with her volunteer staff. As a result, it was a very successful event. Kathleen Cole and Charlotte Jensen took up the reins of the Taste of Ramona and turned it into a premiere event for the Chamber. Wildly successful, the tickets sold out and we left them clamoring for more! Paul Zawilenski quietly but effectively is organizing the Chambers Motorcycle events which we hope one day will become flagship events for this community. Leigh Eisen has participated in the Backcountry EDC and has been an integral part of the Economic Development Committee of the Chamber. Sally Westbrook chair the Backcountry Economic Development Coalition, has taken on the Junior Chamber/Ambassadors program and volunteered to spearhead the Business Development Committee. Her passion and commitment have no equal. With this talent and the new talent, next year will be a banner year, and I can only commit that the Chamber will continue to pursue efforts and programs to assist our local business and take steps to ensure this communitieseconomic viability. - President Bob Krysak The Heart of San Diego County Mission Statement The mission of the Ramona Chamber of Commerce is to develop and maintain a climate for viable economic growth, to promote loyalty to and networking for local businesses and to demonstrate an outstanding leadership role in our community. The 4th Annual Taste of Ramona was a great success! Once again, we sold out of tickets before the event, which took place Saturday, October 6th. Twenty seven locations participated in this year’s Taste and a few locations like Java Hut, Reds, Whites, and Brews, and the Par Lounge also had pairings. Busca’s Soup and Ranch Events Catering were two new additions to the Taste. Tasters smiled throughout the event and struggled to devour the many foods, drinks, and desserts that were given out. Chamber Director Kathleen Cole and Past Director Charlotte Jensen organized the 4th Annual Taste of Ramona. If you miss out on the Taste, get your ticket early next year! The Taste was sponsored by Barona Resort &

Casino, Ramona Disposal, Law Office of Krysak & Associates, Ramona Town Radio, Boll Weevil, Stony Mt. Bar & Bar, Pinto Thai, Marinade on Main, PrintPost, Ranch Events and Polaris Talent.

Ramona Motorcycle Rally Custom Bike Show

Oktoberfest

The 3rd Annual Ramona Motorcycle Rally Custom Bike Show was held on October 27th at Dos Picos Park. The new location was the perfect spot for the event. Over 100 motorcycle enthusiasts came out to enjoy vendors, craft beer, food and the custom bike show which awarded custom made trophies to winners of each motorcycle class. Proceeds raised from the Motorcycle Rally will go towards our Educational Program Grant and Local School Scholarships.

3. Visit your Chamber and bring your event flyer to be displayed in our visitor center.

4. Give your Chamber notice of your event months in advance so we can save the date on our calendar!

Masquerade Mixer at Ramona Disposal Service

Ramona Disposal Service hosted the Masquerade Mixer on October 18, 2018. It was the best mixer yet! Over 120 members and guests attended the masquerade ball which featured tastings from 15 of our local restaurants including our members Ramona Family Naturals, Dunkin Donuts, Marinade on Main, MainCourse, Petes BBQ & Burgers, Quiznos and Cheers of Ramona. The new Ramona Chamber Board of Directors were revealed. Bob Krysak, Patrick Osio, Kevin Brown, Leigh Eisen and Madison Kirkman will be serving on the Board of Directors for 2019. Thank you Patrick Osio, Susan White and the rest of the Ramona Disposal team for hosting another amazing and memorable mixer!

Did you know the Ramona Chamber of Commerce supports local community events in addition to our own events? On October 6th, Chamber Directors and Ambassadors organized the first beer garden at the Ramona Air Fair Fly In. Ranch Events Center and Catering helped provided the fence for the beer garden which was beautifully decorated by Ambassador Lisa Andregg. Joe Stupar and Bob Krysak also attended the Artists’ Reception to Preview the 6th Annual Ramona Art & Wine Festival on Friday, October 6th.
