We are ready to help and assist you with any of your mail or print projects, while continuing to provide you the best customer service and experience in the industry. November 2014 • Edition XIV • The Modern Quarterly Update No Price Changes: The United States Postal Service has officially announced that mailing and shipping prices will not change in January 2015. This means that today’s prices on First-Class and Standard Mail Letters and Flats will remain in place through early next year. Though no price changes are targeted for January, the USPS may still opt to implement regulatory or service changes at some point during the year in which the Postal Service will provide customers advance notice of any price changes. USPS Facility Closures: Over the past 2 years, the USPS has begun closing Processing and Distribution Facilities across the Country, consolidating over 141 mail processing facilities. Recently they announced their plan to resume the consolidation of an additional 82 mail processing facilities beginning in January of 2015. It is believed that these closures will help establish the low-cost, technology-centric delivery platform necessary to serve the mailing and shipping industry for decades to come. What does this mean to you? These closures are drastically affecting delivery times across the country for both standard class and first class mail but also postal discounts for standard class mail that were once offered. For example, those customers with a Postal Permit held at St. Pete and mail into St. Pete, you receive a $.04 discount on your mail. However, over the course of 2015, the St. Pete facility will totally be consolidated, which means if you want to continue to receive the $.04 discount, you will need to move your Permit to Tampa which will be the new SCF destination for St. Pete mail. It is essential for you to be aware if your Bulk Mailing Center is closing or being consolidated so that you can continue to achieve your postal discounts and also to ensure your mail gets in your customer’s hands when you need it there! The list of facilities to be consolidated after January of 2015 is available at http://usps.com/ourfuturenetwork. For any additional questions we recommend you contact mailing requirements at 813-243-5938 and they can assist you. USPS Service Alerts: Did you know on the USPS website, they offer Service Alerts to consumers, small businesses and business mailers about postal facility service disruptions due to weather-related and other natural disasters or events? This is a Great tool to check when planning big mailings across the country, so be sure to stay informed by logging into http://about.usps.com/ news/service-alerts/welcome.htm and checking your area before your next mailing!
