The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office took part in an emergency drill at the Key West airport yesterday. The scenario involved a plane which crash landed after a passenger caused a disruption on board. There were many simulated casualties played by volunteers. Firefighters, paramedics, deputies and hospital personnel were involved in practicing what they would do and how they would respond should such an incident occur.

The Sheriff’s Animal Farm attended the Family Fun Fest on the Naval Air Station - Sigsbee. Chanel the Skunk was a big hit. Thanks to volunteer Sally Botelho for helping out. Thanks also to Mike Grattan, Emil LaVache and Marco Delarosa for all the help they give volunteering for the farm.

David Amoako with jail maintenance is leaving us this week. Jail staff held a get together for him this week to say goodbye. Amoako worked for the Sheriff’s Office from April of 2001 - August of 2008 and then returned to work for us again from February of 2009 - March of 2014. Thanks for the service, David, and good luck!

Sheriff Rick Ramsay recently donated $7,000 to Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches. The money will pay for a special summer camp for a select number of Monroe County youth.
