I am pleased to be able to offer our latest list and hope you find much that pleases; I have tried to be as representative as possible of both grape varieties and countries of origin within the confines of a fairly compact list. You will find some classics, for example Chablis, Sancerre, a great drinking Pomerol with the fantastic St. Pierre. Alternatively why not try some not so well recognised ‘eclectics’ - the Melodias Winemakers Selection from Argentina, or our Douro wine represented by the Quinta do Crasto. Also of interest, is a crisp, fresh Vermentino from the rugged south of Sardinia. When thinking of Sparkling wine in addition to Champagne, we are proud to offer Ridgeview’s wonderful Cavendish, from Sussex. In an attempt to simplify the layout of the list both whites and reds have been categorised into three basic headings, light, medium and full-bodied. Our range of twelve wines by the glass, together with House Champagne by the glass and dessert wine can all be found at the end of the list. Happy perusing! Philip Joseph

I am pleased to be able to offer our latest list and hope you find much thatpleases; I have tried to be as representative as possible of both grape

varieties and countries of origin within the confines of a fairly compact list.

Our range of twelve wines by the glass, together with House Champagne

by the glass and dessert wine can all be found at the end of the list.

Amarone Valpantena DOCG BERTANI

125ML 175ML BOTTLE

AMARONE VALPANTENA £9.50 £12.95 £55.00Bertani, 2013, Veneto, Italy Deep scents of cherry, sour cherry, berries and notes of spices. Soft in the mouth with flavours of red fruit.

The Bertani winery was founded in 1857 by the brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, in Quinto di Valpantena, north of Verona. Gaetano was an expert in the art of winemaking, having learnt new techniques in France from Professor Guyot, still considered a leading expert in viticulture today.

Bertani was one of the first companies in Italy to understand the value of bottled wine; huge investments were made to bottle and export all over the world. The quality of Bertani wine asserted itself straightaway for its elegance, so much so as that the Soave was on the menu at King George VI’s coronation in England, in 1937.

In the middle of the twentieth century, Bertani put into effect the half-century long study to produce “the Wine”, made to last forever. This was the start of Amarone, the iconic wine from this area, with the first vintage dating back to 1958.
