1. With wrong sides together and raw edges even, encase the cord in the strip. Stitch next to the cord using a zipper or cording foot. (Illus. 1)

DIRECTIONS: ½ʺ Seam allowance included in all pieces

2. Pin the cording to the top bag front section having the raw edges of the bag and the raw edges of the cording even. Stitch in place using a cording or zipper foot. Repeat with the second piece of cording and the back bag section. (Illus. 2)

3. Iron the interfacing to the wrong sides of the handle pieces.

4. Fold the handle piece in half lengthwise and stitch along the long edge.

5. Turn right side out, press and edge stitch ¼ʺ from each pressed edge.

6. Measure and mark 7ʺ in from each side edge. Pin the handle to the mark, lining up the raw edge of the handle with the raw edge of the front section. Stitch in place. Repeat with the handle and the back bag section. (Illus. 3)

7. With right side together stitch the top front band to the front bag section. Repeat with the back band and back section. (Illus.4)

9. Baste the Pellon Sew in Fleece to the bag front, bag back and bag bottom.

10. With right sides together stitch the front and back bag sections together along the side edges.

11. Mark the short side centers of the bag bottom and lining bottom. With right sides together pin the bottom to the bag, lining up the bag side seams with the center marks. Stitch the bag bottom to the bag.

12. To narrow hem the top edges of each pocket piece turn under ¼ʺ, then ¼ʺ again. Stitch near lower folded edge.

13. Baste the pocket to the right side of one lining piece. Divide the pocket in half and stitch from the top of the pocket to the bottom of the bag, making 2 pockets. (Illus.6)

14. Baste the second pocket to the remaining lining piece. Measure 7ʺ from each side raw edge and stitch from the mark to the bottom raw edge of the lining, making 3 pockets. (Illus. 7)

15. With right sides together stitch the front and back lining pieces together along the side edges.

16. Stitch the lining bottom to the bag lining leaving a 3ʺ opening for turning.

17. Turn, press and hand stitch the opening closed.

18. Edge stitch the top edge of the bag ¼ʺ from the top pressed edge.

19. With right sides together stitch the base pieces together leaving one short edge open. Hand stitch the opening closed. Insert base in bag.

8. Stitch the handle to the top band stopping 1½ʺ from the top raw edge. (Illus. 5)
