MITES SUBMITTED BY: CARISSA NUSBAUM
To finish up their season the Mite red team participated in two tournaments. First they brought home the third place trophy from the tournament in Fox Valley. After losing their first two games, they rallied to win the third. From their second tournament in Antigo they brought home a great feeling of pride. The final scores did not match the heart they showed on the ice. The Mite White and Blue teams finished up with their season with jamborees in Shawano and Waupaca. Great job to all the kids! Thank you to everyone who helped out with the annual Mite Pizza Party. We set a record this year with over 160 people joining in the pizza and skating fun! Best of luck to all of the skaters moving on to Squirts next year. We have all enjoyed watching you grow from tiny little puck chasers to poised hockey players! You make us all proud!

MARCH 2015 DE PERE YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER
SQUIRT A SUBMITTED BY: HEIDI MIRAO
Mission Possible
At the beginning of the hockey season, Squirt Aʼs Head Coach, Pete Rentmeester, announced to his players and their parents that he had two main goals for the season:
1. That his players are better the last practice than they were the first.
2. That his players return to play hockey next year. If they return, they had fun.
First Mission Phase--Improvement: The team skated on the ice at the beginning of the season with “new” written all over. New season, new team, new awkwardness, and scattered communication on and off the ice. Under the guidance of Coach Pete and his dedicated staff of assistant coaches, the boys “bloomed” just in time for spring. Their passes are sharper, their shots are stronger, and they boisterously chatter on the ice. All in all, the Squirt A Boysʼ confidence surfaced, and they ended the season playing with more swag than at the beginning of the season! Off the ice, the team has grown as well--carpooling, ice time, locker room time, Christmas caroling, hotel time, restaurant time, sled hockey with the Skeeters, and other happenings have brought the team together. The boys are not just called the Squirt A Team, they are a team, and they are young men who have created lasting friendships with their teammates!
Coach Peteʼs second goal, you ask? Well, the verdict isnʼt in yet...but rumor has it that there will be a 100% return rate for the Squirt A Boys! <Applause!> Mission accomplished, Coach Pete. Way to go Squirt A Voyageurs!
Squirt A Season Highlights... *EVERY player scored at least one goal this season! Congratulations to all:
Mitchell Auguston, Lucas Bartelt, Keeton Carter, Bryce Eberhardt, Quinn Koszarek, Tommy Geocaris, John Merkatoris, Silverio Mirao, Isaac Rentmeester, Eli Roskom, Tommy Vandelist, Preston Winkler
*Hat Tricks: Bryce Eberhardt; Tommy Geocaris; Quinn Koszarek; Isaac Renmeester; Eli Roskom; Preston Winkler *Shutouts Earned: Preston Winkler; Mitchell Auguston *Season Results: 17-11-2
THANK YOU FOR AN ENJOYABLE SEASON, SQUIRT A!
SQUIRT B SUBMITTED BY: TIFFANY WECKWERTH
Another year of hockey in the books and the Squirt B’s had a great season of learning under their belts. Highlights from the last month include a tournament in Eagle River over Valentine’s weekend during the coldest week of weather (-30 degrees)! That rink was famously cold, but we all had fun together and although we didn’t come home with a trophy, the kids played some great games. During the last few regular season games, a lot of the kids tried new positions and Goalie became the new favorite spot. Bo, Brady, Lucas, Ian, Jake and Billy all took to the net to give Addison some time to stretch his legs on the ice. Coach Tim even had to flip coins to settle who was wearing the pads for games! We ended the year with a Parent/Siblings vs Kids game and a potluck dinner after. The final score was 13-13 and I don’t think I laughed so hard the whole season!
A shout out to the coaches: Tim Gilbertson, Tony Wied, Bill Nusbaum, Tim Ladwig and Gary Noble. Coaching takes a lot of time and effort, both on and off the ice making it challenging and fun at the same time. Thanks again for volunteering your time for the kids! As Team Manager this year, a role I sort of fell into, I learned A LOT about hockey and what it takes to keep a team running. I want to thank the parents for supporting their kids and the team as a whole throughout a season of exciting wins and heartbreaking losses, on the road and at the rink, our second home! Getting to know each other was great and I have a feeling we will continue to be fast friends as we see each other around town.

PEE WEE B SUBMITTED BY: SHELLY WEGAND
What a way to start February for the Pee Wee B’s. They started February with a double- header win against DCE
before heading into play downs. Not sure if the parents or kids were more nervous for play downs, after a slight
delay to the start of the game, the team went out on the ice and played their hearts out. Started the game out in the
1st period tied 1 to 1, then we took the lead in the 2nd period and the team held on through most of the 3rd period,
when Fox Valley pulled their goalie in the final minutes and we scored on an open net to end with a 3 to 1 win. The
kids played a super game of hockey. We followed
this with a double-header in Marshfield where
we tied the 1st game and won the 2nd. Then
onto our tournament in Beaver Dam where the
kids made memories and played some good, fun
hockey. March brings a few more games and
then on to State. Good luck Pee Wee B’s at
State!
PEE WEE A SUBMITTED BY: WILLIE BIRKHOLZ
Hello De Pere Youth Hockey Fans! Our Pee Wee A skaters have put closure to another great season. Our focus, as a team, from day one was ‘A TEAM above all, above all a TEAM’! Throughout the course of the season our skaters learned to treat each other with respect, use positive critique, work hard for their teammates, hustle, team over self and most importantly have a great time playing during time you have the privilege to play.
Statistics this year were the direct result of contributions made by each member of our team...13 skaters, 1 goalie and 3 coaches. Overall, the Voyageurs recorded 102 goals from 104 assists on net, 730 saves on 853 shots in net for a record of 14-18-4. TEAM point leaders were 26, 24, 24, 24, 17, 16, 15...again a noteworthy statistic on building a strong TEAM.
We’d like to thank our families for their support of DPYH, travel accommodations, positive camaraderie and the overall advocacy for development of their own skater(s). We also must recognize the dedication our coaches provided through off-ice skill work, on-ice chemistry and social skill building of our young skaters. Thank you John Coppo, Jeff Hillesheim and David Brud!
Lastly, we wrapped up the season with some FUN in the annual skater/parent/family game.
SQUIRT C SUBMITTED BY: LOU KNAUS
The Squirt C team is showing great improvement and uniting as a team as they prepare for state. Both the players and families are having a great time learning the sport of hockey. The team earned a second place trophy at the Wausau tournament which highlighted Sam Thompson getting a hatrick and Gabe Foth providing excellent goal tending. Our trip to state will be followed by our parent versus player game followed by some Gallagher’s Pizza.
MARCH 2015 DE PERE YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER
BANTAM B SUBMITTED BY: JERRY FRANKLIN
The regular season has come to an end, with the team amassing a
season record of 15-12-4. Over the month of February and early
March, the team played many games, including the Chippewa Falls
Tournament on Feb. 20-22. They had a 2-1 record in this tournament,
coming out of it with a 3rd Place Finish. In the first game, they beat a
New Prague (MN) Team 2-1 in a well matched game. Their second
game was a close game as well, ending in a 7-6 loss to a Minnetonka
(MN) team. The Bantam B team never trailed, there were several ties,
but never trailed. But with 0:34 left in the game, they went down 7-6,
which was the final score. Heartbreaking loss, but a great game!!! In
the third place game against Middleton (WI) on Sunday, the game
ended in a 2-2 tie. A 5-minute overtime was played 4 on 4, and neither
team scored during this OT period. Therefore, the last 4 players from
each team that were on the ice participated in a shoot-out, which was
0-0 until the final skater from De Pere had his chance, and Colton
Doyen put the puck in the net for the De Pere win and a 3rd Place
Finish in the Tournament. The team is now headed to Hartland, WI for
the Bantam 2B State Tournament. Stay tuned for how they do!!!
BANTAM A SUBMITTED BY: TIM GEOCARIS
The Bantam A team finished their season on March 8th with a
win over Eagle River. All in all it was a good year for a young
team. We showed continuous improvement throughout the
year, and showed that we can compete with many of the
better teams out there. We unfortunately fell short to Fox
Valley in the play downs, so we will not be going to state,
however, we feel confident going into next year that we have
the talent to beat them next year. With the majority of the team returning next year, we know that we can build on
what we started this year, and we are looking ahead to next season. We had some individual accomplishments this
year. Grant Tritabaugh and Murphy Eggers both got multiple hat tricks this year, Grant Tritabaugh earned a play
maker in our last game, and Brody Van Den Heuvel had two shut outs this year. We want to wish all the 8th graders
moving on to high school next year good luck, and we want to thank them for their leadership this year. We also want
to thank Dave Carter, Kurt Eggers, and Scott Johnson for dedicating all their time to coaching and helping these boys
grow. And thank you to all of the wonderful parents that supported the boys week in and week out. Great job
everyone, see you next year!
