Can you imagine what it would be like to tellyour child that they need to go to bed hungrybecause there isn’t enough food to eat? Howabout having to choose between taking careof a sick, elderly parent or keeping yourfamily's PG&E turned on? These are the typesof situations our clients find themselves inevery day. Many are working full-time jobs but they had a crisis emerge that is nowpreventing them from being able to provide for themselves and their families.
We serve on average over 200 families perday throughout the Diocese with meal boxes, educational programs, financial casemanagement and many more services thatprovide relief. We serve all regardless of race, religion orethnicity. Many are veterans and 45% of thosewe help are under the age of 17. Many ofthose we serve are families and seeing aninnocent, hungry child breaks my heart a littlebit each time. Similar in that heartbreak arethe elderly we serve who have no family, noassistance and no one else to turn to.
As we celebrate our country’s independenceon July 4th, please consider blessing us thissummer with a donation. Knowing that $.90cents of every dollar donated goes directlyto programs and services assures that weare able to help those who need it most. Yourdonation can make the difference for those in need in our community.
God bless you,
Kelly Lilles, Executive Director

Our goal is to better serve those in need livingin communities throughout the Diocese -which includes those who may not be able tomake it to our brick and mortar sites.
So far, we've organized outreaches in OrangeCove, Kerman, San Joaquin and Tranquillityto assist those in need with food bags, accessto enrolling in Cal-Fresh (food stamps) andthe PG&E Care program, as well as providingreduced-fee DMV ID Vouchers.
Our Bakersfield site has been activethroughout the county as well, collaboratingwith Mercy & Memorial Hospitals & CAPK. As part of this partnership, they're completing five outreaches per month in the communitiesof Arvin, Tehachapi, Taft, Lake Isabella andDelano to assist those who participate in thehealth screenings with healthy food bags.
Stay tuned for future updates on this program!

Rural Outreach ProgramDear Friends...
Mark your calendars for our largest annual fundraiser, Harvest of Hope, taking place at each
of our three sites in the late summer and fall months. It is because of the generosity of our
community during these events that we are able to provide food, educational programs,
job training, financial case management and other vital programs and services to those
most vulnerable throughout the year. For more information on sponsorships or how you can
get involved, please contact Ashlee Wolf at [email protected] or call (559) 237-0851.

We are so proud of our Merced Career andEducation Center and how quickly it has
taken off. The Center is preparing to graduate students from its first two courses:
a GED class with 31 students and acomputer skills class with 19 students!
In Fresno, a class recently took a trip toFrenso City College to learn more about
reaching their future educational goals andattending college! One student, a 60 yearold man who was laid off from his skilled
labor job, never had any office experienceor computer skills. He said that these
courses gave him hope for a brighter future.
And in Bakersfield, the Beverly Camp Career& Education Center continues to thrive! This
spring semester, 17 students have beenactively pursuing their GED in hopes of
finding a stable job to support themselvesand their families.
