Bukit View Primary School transformed into a fun-filled fiesta of colours when it celebrated its 25th Anniversary on 9 July 2011.
Mr David Ong, BBM, Advisor for Jurong GRC GROs, was invited to officiate the event. It was a ‘family reunion’ of sorts when former and current colleagues, teachers and pupils came together to celebrate the school’s growth and achievements over the years.
Guests were able to experience the wide range of games and activities set up at the various booths such as Maths Blaze (Maths), Eureka (Science), Fun Dash (Sports) and Art Galore (Art). Throughout the day, guests were also treated to exciting musical and dance performances by our talented performing arts groups. The event also marked the official opening of our Performing Arts Studio specially designed to enable pupils to develop their skills in Drama.

Inspiring Teacher ofEnglish Award 2011
All the award winners with Mr Lawrence Wong,Minister of State for Defence and Education
BVPS is pleased to announce that Miss Pamela Kiew (HOD English) has been awarded the Inspiring
Teacher of English Award this year. The winners received a trophy, certificate and cash award from the
Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister of State for Defence and Education at the award
ceremony on 11 October 2011. The Inspiring Teacher of English Award, now in its fourth year, is jointly
presented by The Straits Times and the Speak Good English Movement, and supported by the Ministry of
Education (MOE). The Award honours exceptional teachers of English Language, English Literature and
General Paper. We extend our heartiest congratulations to Miss Kiew!
“Ms Pamela Kiew believes in making English interesting
and relevant to her students. She brings the English
language to life in her school through a variety of
methods – one of which is a “Performing Arts Studio”, a
room filled with props to spur teachers and students into
scripting plays and putting on drama performances.
Another of her programmes, “Mad about English”, gets
students to complete tasks related to the four English
Language skills of reading, writing, speaking and
listening. Recognising that students look to adults as role
models, she initiated a programme for all non-teaching
staff, including canteen vendors and security guards, to
be trained to speak in Standard English.”

Providing a well-balanced, holistic education
Believing that every child can learn and achieve and driven by our school mission, we, at BVPS, constantly challenge ourselves to provide our pupils with a balanced and holistic education in every way. The outcomes that we desire to see are pupils who are independent learners and critical thinkers, pupils who have acquired the necessary 21st century competencies, in particular, Confidence, Cooperation and Curiosity, or what is known as the 3Cs. Adopting a school-wide approach to deliver this enriched curriculum and enhanced pedagogy, the strategic intent is to align the 3Cs prototype programmes with the key PERI recommendation of balancing the acquisition of knowledge with skills and values so as to develop pupils who are more confident, adaptable, better team players and have a keen thirst to learn and acquire knowledge. Upon requests, we have also shared these pedagogical practices with teachers from the cluster and also non-cluster schools.
