Happiness through landscape
How you define “happiness”? How you define “space”?

Happiness Happiness mean the well being of mind & emotion. Happiness is associated with different human emotions. These emotions could be defined as: pleasure,
contentment, cheerfulness, joy, joviality, jollity, glee, delight, well-being, enjoyment.
Factors Happiness is dependent of
some factors which are:A. Good healthB. Good personal and
intimate relationships like marriage, family and friendships.
C. The faculty for perceiving beauty in art and nature.
D. Reasonable standards of living and satisfactory work.
E. Attitude toward life.
Colors & Flowers
RED Red is the warmest and most
dynamic of the colors. It can increase a person’s
heart rate and make them excite. It is associated with “love & life”.
YELLOW Yellow is perhaps the most
energetic of the warm colors. It is associated with
“laughter, hope and sunshine”.
Colors add beauty to our lives while flowers make spaces more welcoming .
BLUE Blue evokes feelings of
calmness and spirituality as well as security and trust.
Seeing the color blue causes the body to create chemicals that are calming.
GREEN Green symbolizes
health, new beginnings and wealth.
Green is the easiest on the eyes.
Space & Senses Space
Space has a very real impact on how we feel. Neuroscientists and psychologists says that
aesthetics affect our decisions, emotional responses and the way we feel about ourselves and anything else.
Senses According to Professor Charles Spence, “what
you see can change what you hear, what you hear can change what you taste, what you taste can change what you feel”.
Five recognized senses of human plays a great role in relating a space to different emotions.
Landscape It refers to the visible features of an area of
land, the landforms and how they integrate with natural or man-made features.
Landscaping & Design Principles
Landscaping refers to any activity that modifies the visible features of an area of land, including: living elements, natural elements, water bodies and abstract elements.
Design Principles are: 1. Balance2. Focal Point3. Proportion4. Rhythm 5. Unity6. Variety
Types Of LandscapeHardscape
Hardscape refers to hard landscape materials in the built environment structures that are incorporated into a landscape.
This can include paved areas, driveways, retaining walls, sleeper walls, stairs
Softscape It’s opposite to hardscape. Mean
use of horticulture. The range of soft
landscape materials includes aquatic plants, semi-aquatic plants, grasses and herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees.
Xeriscape The landscape which is design to conserve water or
water efficient landscape. The word "xeriscape" is derived from the Greek
"xeros," meaning dry, and "scape," a kind of view or scene..

Pathways are at least 4 feet wide.
The width could also be measured by “pedestrian per minute or hour”.
Pools & Fountains Pools act as a focal point
in landscape. It has physiological
effect as sometimes use metaphorically.
It acts as climate modifier.
