28/11/2011 HAPPINESS SURVEY 2
C A happy workforce delivers better results. Employees
enjoying good relationship, productive career development,
feeling valued by the Organisation and well treated in times of
change are likely to contribute the most to the business.
Happy employees can act as an ambassador for the
Organisation sending out positive signal, both within the
Company and out side in the community, thus enhancing the
employer brand. A business organization whose employees are
happy is more productive, has a higher morale, and has a
lower turnover. When employees have high levels of
psychological well-being and job satisfaction, they perform
better and are less likely to leave their job -- making happiness
a valuable tool for maximizing organizational outcomes.

How to derive at relative happiness indexo Step 1: To calculate the weighted score of every option. Obtained by
multiplying the number of ratings received by each option with their corresponding probabilities. Here the assumption of equal probabilities of rating each option is assumed.
o Step 2: To find out the weighted score of the individual. The options one has ranked and their respective weighted scores is obtained. Then the general weighted score with the relative score given to that option by the individual is factored out.
o Step 3: To calculate the total weighted score of the individual by summing up the individual weighted scores for every question related to each section.
o Step 4: Relative index of happiness is calculated as the (total weighted score of individual/ total weighted score of the general rankings) * 2/3 since out of 3 questions only 2 were indicating the happiness quotient of an individual.
o Step 5: To calculate the relative index of unhappiness. There is just 1 question for that. First the weighted score of the general rankings of the options for that question is calculated and next the individual weighted score is calculated. Relative index of unhappiness would therefore is measured as (total individual weighted score of unhappiness/ total general weighted score of unhappiness)* 1/3.
o Step 6: The final step for calculation of the relative happiness index by deducting the relative index of unhappiness from the relative index of happiness. This would give the net happiness index for a single individual. Multiplying it with 100 would provide the relative happiness in percentage.
