What happens later on though, that the routine takes over and even the most fun night becomes a boring task? How can the first spark be kept bright forever?

In each episode, a couple will try to bring back the excitement and happiness into their relationship by making their significant other simply, happy. With the help of a little financial support by the production team, they will make surprises for each other. The surprises are fun, entertaining activities that are not part of their routine, that they perhaps never had the time or money to do before.

Following the surprise activity, their level of happiness is measured by a special device.

Format Structure

The intensity of joyful emotions like happiness can actually be scientifically measured and quantified. When we experience positive emotions, neuron activity in the brain changes. For the first time in television, the level of happiness will be measured by a specially designed and developed EEG (electroencephalograph) – for convenience, we will call it “the happy tool”.

At the beginning of each episode, the couple breaks the moneyboxes – one of them receives the gold unlimited card, and the other one receives a small amount of money. The idea is to also show that one does not always need to have a lot of money to be happy: maybe a simple walk in the beach on sunset can bring more happiness than spending the night at an expensive club.

At times, most unexpected things may increase the level of happiness, because they facilitate the production of hormones releasing happiness: these hormones are endorphin, dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin. The couple explains this process to the viewers. At the “peak” moment of the surprise activity, meaning when they experience the rush of the “happy hormones”, we graphically draw the hormone release executed as an ink filling the whole screen with the bright color.

Sample Episodic Breakdown

The episode always begins in the apartment of the young people, and the two surprises that they individually prepare for their partner follow.

• Apartment: Couple is in the apartment, ready for their surprises. They open the cash boxes

• Surprise 1

• Surprise 2

• Cut of funny moments during their day

Key Points

All the surprise events/activities prepared are accessible in the country of production – these are repeatable by other couples if they choose to do it. The emphasis here is to present the viewers the idea to arrange the same entertainment for them in their lives.

However, as always there is a catch! When choosing the surprises for his/her partner, they have to focus on their own tastes and interests. For example, the man usually prepares the “male” type of entertainment for the woman such as tank riding or football training, whereas the woman prepares the more girly ones like going to spa or taking a dance class.

They are also filmed during their way to the surprise event, the eyes of the one to have the surprise are closed while his/her partner drives to the location. On their short trip, the background, weather, clothes etc. changes.

A fun element of the program is “turning off the sound”: when one of them is upset and about to start a fight, the partner “switches” his/her sound off by the turn of the hand like a remote control and listens to a music. After some time, the partner switches the sound on again and continues the normal, calm communication.
