Let Freedom Ring This Fourth of JulyFreedom. The word means a lot more to us in the wake of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Freedom to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our country‘s commitment tohelping the oppressed around the world enjoy the same liberties, shapes our lives asAmericans.
Our wish for your holiday mirrors that of a newly formed state in 1783. North Carolinaproclaimed that Independence Day that year would be celebrated as a “Day of Thanksgivingfor Peace.” We hope that as you celebrate with your friends and family the anniversary ofthe our country‘s first Independence Day, you will take a moment to reflect on what pricemany have paid to preserve our precious freedom and to truly be thankful for the peace weenjoy in our everyday lives.

Drive away withthe best deal
Buying a new car is abig decision—and acostly one. To get the
best deal, follow this advicefrom theGOBankingRates.comwebsite:
• Plan ahead. Startshopping before you need anew car. Give yourself timeto do as much research asyou can.
• Watch your timing. You can get a better deal ifyou know when to buy. Atthe end of the month, salespeople may be more
likely to give you a break inorder to meet their quota. At the end of the modelyear, a car dealer might bemotivated to clear all theunused cars o* his or herlot at a reduced price.
• Decide on what youwant. Don’t go in blind. Before you go to adealership, be clear onexactly what make andmodel of car you want—and how much you’rewilling to spend.
• Be friendly. Salespeoplewill try to build rapport with
you, and you can do thesame. Focus on what’s bestfor both of you instead ofturning the negotiation intoa battle.
• Study pricing. Beaware of what dealers areo*ering—and what theyaren’t. Taxes and fees mightnot be included in a car’slist price. Certain o*ers mayonly be available to buyerswith top-tier credit. Fees forlicense, title, andregistration can vary fromstate to state, so check upon those first.

• Load up on juicy fruits and vegetables. *ey’re an excellent source of water, soconsuming them helps you stay cool and well hydrated. (You’ll get important nutrients aswell.)
• Make low-fat eating a priority. It’s more than just a health plus. Fatty foods take longerto digest than carbohydrate or protein–and digestion generates heat.
So you’ll be cooler and more comfortable if you eat more quickly digested foods–such asfruits, vegetables, starches, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.
• Tap the cooling avors of fresh herbs. Mint contains chemical compounds that create afeeling of coolness in your mouth and nose. Other herbs in the mint family (thyme, rosemary, basil) also add a refreshing note to the foods they’re used in.
• Even if your appetite ags, eat something. Occasionally, frozen yogurt and fruit is )nefor lunch or salsa with chips is okay for supper. Have unconventional meals, but don’t skipeating altogether, because food supplies energy. If you’re not eating, you will not feel as good.
