Hannans Road Public School 20 November 2020 Creativity Engagement Excellence From the Principal’s desk… I would like to thank the students, staff and community for the warm welcome to Hannans Road PS this week. I have experienced the amazing collaboration, connection and programs on offer for the students of Hannans Road PS. The relentless pursuit of growth is firmly embedded throughout the school with thanks to Ms Butler and the staff. On Tuesday we had our last scripture classes for the year. A huge thank you to our scripture teachers who have been flexible and worked with our students in line with COVID 19 guidelines this year. On Wednesday, we had our final Kindergarten transition, welcoming our 2021 Kindergarten students to Hannans Road. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces coming through the school gates. Those smiles continued during the many different activities led by Ms Buckley and Miss Robinson. It was wonderful to welcome siblings of current students as well as many new students and families into the Hannans Road PS community. It has been pleasing to see so many students enjoying the varied activities on offer during lunch with thanks to our dedicated and committed teachers. Students are very much making full use of the equipment and library and successfully engaging in dance, netball, craft, games and sport teams. The Athletics Carnival will be held next Wednesday 25 November at Lance Hutchinson Oval. Please ensure that your child brings extra water with them and has adequate sun protection on the day. Current COVID guidelines mean that our usual end of year activities will look differently. We are so pleased that some of these can go ahead and will continue to update you as we receive advice. It is important that we all continue to maintain social distancing when dropping off and picking up children as well as speaking with one another. This is to ensure the health and safety of all. Take care of one another and have a great week! NAIDOC Week

3/4A organised NAIDOC Week activities to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By mapping out their thinking, 3/4A were able to set learning intentions and success criteria for their own activities to teach others about the significance of NAIDOC Week. 3/4A worked as a team and used their creative and critical thinking skills to plan a risk assessment and COVID safe measures to ensure their activities ran smoothly. Thank you 3/4A. NAIDOC week was enjoyed by all.

Athletics Carnival

Our track events will occur at Lance Hutchinson Oval this coming Wednesday. Students K-6 will need to arrive to school by 9:30am. Canteen orders will still be able to be made on this day. Unfortunately, due to current guidelines, parents/carers are unable to attend this event.

Students are able to wear T-shirts in the colour of their house on this day. We are all looking forward to this exciting event.
