Hanna Beats Woodmont in Last
Second Thriller!

Jon-Michael Kubu kicked a 45-yard field goal that just cleared the left corner of the
goal post to lift T.L. Hanna to a 23-21 victory at home over Woodmont on Friday.
The Yellow Jackets (3-7, 2-4), who improved to 4-0 in the series, trailed 21-20 after
the Wildcats scored with 9:52 to play in the fourth. Woodmont (4-6, 2-4) tried to
run out the clock but Hanna had enough timeouts to get a late stop and get the ball
back with a chance for an improbable drive.
The Jackets started the final possession of the game on their own 10-yard line with
53 seconds left. Quarterback Jackson Williamson moved Hanna down the field with
several quick passes and was helped by a roughing the passer penalty on
Woodmont. A catch by Bryan Miller to the Wildcat 28 with 6 seconds left set up
Kubu’s game-winning kick on Senior Night. Williamson threw for 338 yards and
three touchdowns, while Darien Rencher caught two of those scores and also rushed
for 93 yards. Miller caught eight passes for 129 yards.
Hanna took control of the game early and got on the board on its first drive when
Williamson threw to Rencher, who ran it in for a 10-yard touchdown to go up 7-0
with 7:37 left in the first quarter. Woodmont answered on the ensuing possession,
marching down the field and finishing the drive with a 10-yard TD run by QB
Jonathon Sims.
Hanna went up 14-7 on a 25 yard pass from Williamson to Rencher with 7:11 left in
the second quarter. The Jackets picked off passes on Woodmont’s last two
possessions of the first half, but the Wildcats would tie the game on a 1-yard TD run
by Jawanza Adams with 3:54 left in the third quarter. That set up a wild fourth
quarter. Hanna regained the lead on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Williams to
Miller to go up 20-14 with 10:21 left, but the extra point was no good. Woodmont
scored two plays later after a 38-yard run by Adams set up a 23-yard TD run by
Sims. The Wildcats made their kick to go up 21-20.
Hanna punted on its next possession but got it back with six minutes to play.
However, the Yellow Jackets lost a fumble in Woodmont territory and turned the
ball over on downs. The Wildcats got to the other side of the field and fed the ball
to Adams, who couldn’t pick up one last first down that might have been enough to
run out the clock.

Dear Parents and Students:
This is a reminder of the upcoming courses that we have available for ACT/SAT
preparation. Score High is an evidence-based program which teaches students
strategies on how to take the test. Many students who have taken courses with
Score High have improved their ACT and SAT score by a minimum of 4 points or
200 points, respectively. Score High has helped students to qualify for college
admission, secure scholarships, and compete as strong college candidates. Score High
offers an extensive course (6 sessions and 5 practice tests) or a cram course (2 sessions
and 2 practice tests) for each – the ACT or SAT.
Each session is given once per week and the practice tests are on Saturday mornings.
There are also individual tutoring options for those students who will benefit more
from a one-on-one tutoring style. With each course your teen will receive a strategies
workbook, the College Board or ACT study guide, an actual practice test, and a
detailed question-by-question score report. Score High also offers a guaranteed
incentive, where once you have registered for one course, your teen is able to retake
that course as many times as he/she likes.
Register by calling 1-888-774-7737 or contacting our area representative Sanethia
Thomas at 571-839-3345.
