New Home, New Start, New Ways to Travel…Moving into a new home and community is a great time to think about how you travel and to try some new ways of getting around.
The TravelWest Team are here to help; whether it’s to work, school or college, travelling to toddler groups, day clubs, shopping, health appointments, or visiting friends and family. They will work with you to put together a travel pack that’s relevant for you.
This Pack and all the related services and offers have been produced by the West of England Partnership (Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Councils) with funding from the Department for Transport and in association with Barratt Homes and Sovereign.
Welcome to your new home and your travel information pack
Hanham Hall - what will it look like
Your neighbourhood - your new community
We can help you consider new ways to travel around the West… Thinking about the journeys you need to make
• Would you try another way to travel but don’t think you have any other options?
• Would you walk or cycle but not sure where to start?
• Would you use the bus but don’t know which bus you need, where to catch it or what time they run?
• Would you car share but not sure how it works?
Our TravelWest Team are here to help answer these questions and put together a travel pack that meets allyour travel needs.
Our Travelwest Team are coming to Hanham HallThe Team will try to speak with all residents at events or on the door step to talk through the journeys that need to be made. They offer free, impartial and professional advice and have a range of free travel offers available to help you try new ways of getting around. The range of offers include:
• Route planning – if you need to make a new journey, or try a different form of travel, our advisors can help.
• Loan bikes – If you are considering cycling, we can lend you a bike on a short term basis so you can try before you decide to buy (both pedal and electric bikes available - a refundable deposit is required).
• Cycle training – Adult and children’s cycle training is available to give you the skills and confidence to get back on two wheels.
• Accompanied Ride – If you’d like to gain more confidence in cycling a route we can accompany you.
• Dr Bike – If you already have a bike, but it needs some attention to get it running smoothly again, our mechanics can give it a once over. They can also provide help and advice on repairs and cycle maintenance.
• Bus Tickets – if you haven’t used a bus for a while, we have a range of FREE tickets available so you can give it a go and see how useful it can be.
• Car Sharing – we can help you find a car sharing buddy.
• Car Clubs – We have offers available to help you join a local car club such as membership deals and discounted drive time.
• Motor cycle training – If you want to get around on two wheels we can provide training to help you gain skills and confidence.
• Bus Buddy Service – If you’re not familiar with your route. A travel adviser can arrange to go with you the first time you make your journey.
You’ve moved into an exciting new community that over the next year will see 185 new homes built set within 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with all your new neighbours moved in!
As well as the allotments, green houses, play park and kick about area - a crèche, café and offices are due to open right on your door step. The new Community Centre is also at the hub of Hanham Hall.
Your travel plan & events
Travelwest are working with The Hanham Hall Residents Group and Sovereign to deliver a series of events and supporting measures and materials to help you travel more easily.
This leaflet is one of the first steps and we are planning a host of activities and measures to help residents travel more sustainably. If you have any comments or feedback please contact our Travelwest team, details on the back page.

Supporting journeys on foot and by bicycle • Hanham Hall is a walking and cycling friendly development with direct links to Europe’s most used cycle path. • A nature play trail runs through the development. • Cycle parking is provided at each home.
Car Sharing & Car Clubs• Car sharing involves commuter and other trips, where two or more people share a vehicle rather than drive separately. The TravelWest Car Share Scheme operates in your area and is available for all residents. • If you don’t need a car all the time you could consider joining a car club. Once you’ve registered you can book a car online and just driveaway, and you won’t need to worry about the maintenance or insurance. For further information and car club locations visit
www.travelwest.info/drive
Parking
• You will only be able to park in your designated parking space or garage. All one, two and three bedroom homes have one designated parking space, while four and five bedroom homes have two parking spaces.
• No parking is permitted on the streets as streets are for people in Hanham Hall. There will however be a limited number of short stay parking bays for visitors.
Working from home
All homes come with a dedicated space for a home office with an identified area equipped with data points, electric plugs and high speed cables to promote working from home and reducing the need to travel.
Supporting journeys by public transport
• A bus stop for services to Bristol City Centre is located at the entrance of Hanham Hall and further stops are located a short walk away on Hanham High Street. • Not sure when the next bus goes? Use our Buschecker App, for all the up to the minute real time bus information direct to your finger tips. www.travelwest.info/buschecker • A range of free bus tickets are available for residents.

You can view these cycle maps online, download them to your computer or order paper copies by visiting www.betterbybike.info/maps/cycle-maps
Lets start with some of the journeys you might be makingWork: • If you work in Bristol or Kingswood, there is a direct bus service from the bus stop right outside Hanham Hall. Buses run every 20 minutes Monday to Friday and every 30 minutes on a Saturday and 60 minutes on a Sunday.
• There are also bus services on Hanham High Street to Longwell Green, Southmead and Bath.
• Keynsham Train station is a 20 minute cycle or 10 minute drive away providing links to Bath, Bristol and beyond.
• There are probably other people who live nearby going the same way. Have you thought about car sharing? Visit www.travelwest.info/carshare with help finding car sharing partners.
• Working from home in your designated space for a home office is also a great way to avoid travelling to work at all.
Health:• Your local doctor’s surgery, Hanham surgery is conveniently located only a few hundred metres from your home.
