Handrailing
Handrailing, or named Guard-rails,
Parapets, Balustrades,Barriers is one security
device for protection against accidental fall or accidental access to a hazardous area. It is installed on stairs, step ladders or landings,
platforms, sides of bank, pool, pit and walkways. The handrailing shall be installed near to the
dangerous areas where is a fall risk of passage through.
There is one type of ball joint handrail, the ball-pipe structure stanchion, combined with rails
and toe plates, composing the safety, beautiful and easy erection handrails -
DAHE ball joint handrailing.
In October of 1993, DAHE ball joint handrailing was first appeared in
Beijing Building Exhibition.In June of 1994, the first batch of DAHE ball joint
handrailing was started installation in Guangdong Shajiao C Power Station.
In September of 1995, DAHE ball joint handrailing was awarded the patent by state.
In October of 199 has been awarded ISO 9000 QMS certificate.
Over ten years, DAHE handrails was widely used in many industrial areas, municipal
engineering, such as power plant, chemical plant, foodstuff and drink plant, water supply and
sewage treatment plant, field and park, river bank and dock etc.
In recent years, DAHE handrails were supplied for so many power stations throughout China,
just like numerous stars twinkling.

MANUFACTURES AND TOLERANCES1 Hollow Ball
1.1 Hollow ball is seamless forged

round (diameter tolerance) not exceed 0.5mm
2 Base Plate
2.1 1 mm For welded fixing
base plate, the tolerance of length and width shall be no more
than 1mm.

bolted fixing base plate, the tolerance of space between bolt
holes shall be no more than 1mm.
2.3 Base plate shall be with hole for water outlet.
3 Stanchion Pipe
3.1 5 mm The tolerance of stanchion length shall
be no more than 5mm.

used for angle corner of horizontal handrails or connection
between horizontal handrail and stair handrails, divided into top

6 Toe Plate
6.1 Toe plates shall be supplied in standard
length.

tolerance of toe plates shall be in accordance with specifications
of relevant hot rolled steel coil.

INSTALLATION1 The handrails shall be installed in
the area where is a fall risk.
2 500mm The handrails shall
be installed when the fall height may exceed 500mm.
3 200mm
30mm If the space between
working platform and plant structure or wall is less than 200mm
and the structures protection equal to the handrails, there is no
need to install handrails. However, if the space between working
platform and adjacent structure is more than 30mm, there shall be
installed toe plates.
4 1500mm
The space of stanchions shall be
limited within 1500mm. If exceeding this space, the special note
shall be taken fixing strength of stanchion and add fixing device.
5 120mm

In the conditions of rails stopped, the maximum
clear space between two segment handrails shall be no more than
120mm. If the maximum clear space over 120mm and the
stanchions can not be added convenience, the welding connection
is permitted use same pipes as top rails and mid rails in the same
height, then anti corrosion coating shall be carried out.

, 4.9 All entrance and exit shall be installed self
closing gates. The self closing gates shall be with top rails and mid
rails, the height same as handrails. Refer to Drawing 4.9.

be opened in single direction.
b) The opened direction
of the self closing gate shall not toward to fall direction.

The self closing gate shall be opened easily.
d) The self closing gate shall be closed
automatically.

if there is no fall risk, such as stairway with two sides of wall, one
side shall be installed handrail at least. While the width more or
equal 1200mm, both sides of stairway shall be installed handrails.

When the up height of stairway exceeds
500mm and there is a cross space of over 200m outside of beam, the
side of stairway shall be installed handrails.

There shall be no obstacle holdback people in distance of 100mm
around handrails.

beams, the fillet weld shall be no less than 8mm.

(top and mid) shall refer to Ball Joint Handrails – Top Rails, Mid
Rails, Bends Installation Sketch. It is recommended that first feed
top rail and mid rail through ball joint and fit up, then fixing.

galvanization coating destroyed due to welding, cutting,
scratching shall be carried out anti-corrosion coating on site.
