    Learning Object Standards

SCORM, the Sharable Content Object Reference Model, is a technical specification that governs how

online training (or "e-learning") is created and delivered to learners. It is a collection of standards and

specifications adapted from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive suite of e-learning capabilities

that enable interoperability, accessibility and reusability of Web-based learning content. Supported by

    the Advanced Distributed Learning initiativehttp://www.adlnet.gov/scorm/index.aspx

Learning Object Metadata. A set of metadata standards developed by IEEE to assist with the discovery

and interoperability of learning objects. The types of metadata attributes required by this standard for

learning objects include: type of object; author; owner; terms of distribution; format; and pedagogical

attributes, such as teaching or interaction style.

    http://www.ala.org/apps/primo/public/search.cfm

Peer-reviewed instructional materials created by librarians to teach people about discovering, accessing

and evaluating information in networked environments.

    Wisc-Online (Wisconsin Online Resource Center)

    http://www.wisc-online.com/

Developed primarily by faculty from the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) and produced by

multimedia technicians who create the learning objects for the online environment. Colleges,

universities, and consortia outside the WTCS can use the library with permission.
