Goals of Summer Youth Camp
• Accepting registration for all sessions until camps are full
• Can still add Late Program and/or Lunch Program
• Must register for multiple sessions at once to receive discounts
Registration
• Medical Waivers MUST be COMPLETED• If you want your child to able to be treated at Student Health
Services
• Packet MUST be submitted by the first day of camp session
• We have copies if needed
Waiver and Release Packet
• Campers should wear:
• Shorts or pants that are good to play in
• Short or long sleeved shirts.
• Hat for outside
• Non-marking tennis/gym shoes, shoes they can run and jump in
• Clothes may get dirty. We play outside and sometimes create messy art projects!
What to Wear
• Backpack or bag to store personal items/items from Summer Camp
• Swimming gear• Swimsuit• Towel• Sunscreen• Goggles (optional)• Plastic bag for wet clothes
• Lunch with Drink
• Camp Water Bottle
• Have all personal items clearly marked with child’s name
What to Bring
What NOT to Bring
• Make sure your child DOES NOT BRING:• Playing cards, trading cards, cards of any kind
• Electronic games or other types of electronics (iPad, MP3 Player, etc.)
• Phones and Books/Magazines are OK• Cell phones are to be kept in bags at all times. They are for emergencies only.
• Books/Magazines can be read ONLY during Drop-off and Pick-up, Lunch and Snacks.
• These items may be confiscated and given directly to parent if used during activities.
• 2 Snack Breaks and 1 Lunch Period
• Lunch NOT PROVIDED without purchase of Lunch Program
• Snacks and drinks will be provided
• Pack lunches that do not need to be refrigerated or microwaved

General Rules
• Campers must stay within their groups
• Participation STRONGLY encouraged
• Appropriate behavior required
• Must remain in designated Summer Camp areas
• If they are really sick or contagious, keep them at home
Absences
• Refunds not available for vacations, special events, short-term illnesses (4 days or fewer), or any other activity which would prevent attendance
• Refunds may be allowed for extended illnesses with doctor’s note and prompt submission of request
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
• Drop-Off• Starts at 7:45am
• West Parking Lot E34
• First day of camp:• Parents need to bring camper inside
for introductions and ensure all paperwork is complete
• After first day:• Ensure a staff member is awaiting
your child.
• Please do not have child make his/her way alone into the building.
• Pick-Up• All campers MUST be signed out before they can
leave
• PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED
• MAC Court Only
• Only those authorized may sign child out of camp
• Or director must speak directly with parent
• Parents/guardians MAY NOT go into building, child will be brought to MAC Gym
• Early pick-up
• Fees will be charged for late pick-up
Summer Camp Activities
Art and Dance• ART
• Students learn different art concepts.
• Campers produce art and crafts projects that use different media.
• Students may make day to day items as well as larger projects that stretches across a few days.
• DANCE• Students exercise
through dance.• Students learn
new dances (can be a build up over the week or a new dance or two each day)
• Students work on coordination, fitness, memorization, and rhythm.
Basketball, Indoor Soccer and Team Sports• Basketball and Indoor Soccer
• Students learn new skills related to basketball and indoor soccer
• There is a progression of skills learned.
• Classes include instruction, drills, and games.
• Team Sports
• Students learn a variety of sports that require teamwork, problem solving and cooperation.
• Classes include instruction and games.
• Examples include: Flag football, kickball, wiffleball, ultimate frisbee, indoor hockey, etc.
Fit Kids
• Students exercise through games and activities
• Classes include lessons on fitness, exercise and nutrition as well as activities that encourage exercise.
• Examples include: Relay race, exercises, yoga, skills cards, PE Games, etc.
Racquet Sports and Rec Games
• Racquet Sports• Students learn skills
related to tennis, badminton, and table tennis
• Classes include instruction, drills, and games
• Students receive basic fundamental instruction for each activity and participate in drills and games.
• Rec Games• Students learn a variety of
activities that are purely recreational. Can be played in teams or individually.
• Classes include instruction and games
• Examples include: Dodgeball, parachute games, big ball games, bean bag games, juggling, 4 square, capture the flag, relay races, and speed stacks, etc.
Rock Wall
• Students learn basic rock climbing skills.
• Students are allowed to climb 1 of 3 courses based on skill level and desire.
Swimming
• Students learn swimming skills as well as participate in free swimming time.
• Activities will help campers discover new ways to exercise and play games in the pool.
• This class is held every day!
Parking Permits
• UTRGV requires a permit displayed in all vehicles that park on campus whether for a short term or long term parking.
• To obtain a temporary permit:• Purchase at UTRGV Parking and Transportation office (by Police Dept.)
• Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 5:30pm, Friday 7:30a – 5pm
