Head Scientist
RHODIA, Inc., Bristol Research & Technical Center

Dear Dr. Employer (change to employers real last name)
I am writing in reference to the job posting for Organic/Polymer Chemists with your organization. I was
informed of this valuable opportunity by Professor Name (change to professor/advisors real name)
from the University of Delaware where I am working towards a doctoral degree in Analytical Chemistry.
I expect to graduate in the spring of 2008.
I have experiences that I believe qualify me for the aforementioned positions, including extensive
research experience in design, synthesis, and purification of organic/ polymer materials from my PhD
research. For example, I participated with four teams of scientists from various organizations (UMASS
lowel, NREL, and KORNARKA) in the development of two dimensional thiophene based materials. This
Ultra-high performance organic photovoltaic cell project was founded by Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency (DARPA).
In addition, the topic of my Masters thesis, Development of characterization method for synthetic
polymers has prepared me for the chemist positions posted. Specifically, I developed a new technique
using a temperature gradient to characterize and to purify synthetic polymers.
As an industrial researcher at Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., I was responsible for new product development
which I conducted from the initial research phase to the successful commercialization of the Organic
Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs).
The enclosed resume provides details about my work experience and accomplishments. I would
appreciate the opportunity to interview with you and discuss how my background and research
qualifications can benefit Rhodia Inc. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the phone number or e-
mail address provided above if I can provide you with any additional information. I thank you for your
consideration and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
