Case study: A client, his wife and children were found to have no money coming in and relying upon family assistance. Following a benefits check was found to be entitled to JSA, council tax support and housing benefits and we assisted in the application for these also checking that all child related benefits were being received. Debt management was discussed and with the help of SWY the client was assisted in making realistic offers of repayment. Over a period of time the family managed to reduce their debt level. When the client was due to start a new job, we provided financial assistance for travel costs/uniform costs.

Every Wednesday at 11am, a group of local men meet at the Halliwell UCAN Centre to talk,
socialise over a cup of coffee, and share their common experiences with a focus on improving their
lives.
Here’s what James says, “ Since coming to the Men’s group I have gained in confidence. Looking
forward to our future projects and outings. Found new friends to chat to and also assist in any way I can regarding
their situation.”

Hello
Services for jobseekers - some changes
In order to offer the most useful service to our customers and our
wider community, we will be making some changes to our
timetable and therefore we will not be holding Jobclub sessions on
Mondays from 1st September. But, the jobseeking support will
continue throughout the week as normal.
We have redesigned our services to jobseekers and wish to
continue our support with CV’s, job search websites and interview
tips during our general public opening hours, including Saturday
mornings. This offer has always
been in place, and you can pop in
anytime you feel like for help and
support regarding job searches,
during the times we are open to the
general public. Over the last six
years, over 200 people have
thanked us for helping them find
work.
