Amazing Earthquakes
• Natural disasters are a result of nature that affects the earth. • An earthquake begins when pressure from the core of our earth
moves tectonic plates against each other which causes rubbing and pushing an that sends out seismic waves called p-waves, s-waves, and surface waves. These waves make the earth vibrate and shake.
• Earthquakes can affect people because homes are destroyed and prevent people from having warmth and protection from the elements.
• You can prepare for an earthquake by building safely, then find a safe place to protect yourself, organize supplies, and lastly make an emergency plan with your family.
• Other natural disasters are: avalanches, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, lighting storms, tsunamis, volcano eruptions and wild fires.
