Haiti's days are usually sunny, while the nights usually include thunder and lightning storms.

Haiti is located right on the equator, so it has warm, humid days year-round. Also, Haiti is located in the middle of the Hurricane Belt, so it gets severe storms between June and October.

Haiti's vegetation includes: Pine forests in the mountainous regions,

cedar, mahogany, oak, orange, and mango trees.

The blue on the flag represents the union of black Haitians. The red on the flag represents the union of the mulatto haitians.

The coat of arms symbolizes the battle for independence. The saying on it says L'Union Fait la Force, or there is strength in unity.

Voodoo Haiti's most common religion is Voodoo. About half of Haiti's population practices

voodoo. Voodoo involves the spirits of the

ancestors, or "Loa" The Loa are known to enter peoples'

bodies and put them in a trance. During ceremonies, animals such as

ritual.• Slaves shipped from Africa were not

allowed to practice African religions, so they developed voodoo,which is similar to Roman Catholicism, and fooled the slave masters.

Haitian Food The main part of the Haitian diet consists

of corn, cassava, millet, rice, and fruit. Tropical fruits such as pineapples,

grapefruit, oranges, and mangoes are abundant.

A popular dish is called "grillot", which is made of fried pork, served with a spicy sauce called "sauce ti malice".
