one thing is certain:this boy in striped overallslikes lots of ketchup
here at the airporteveryone has a purposefor a moment-i don't
favorite pants and shirtpressed into overstuffed bags-balance on shoulders
i thought i heard abird chirp inside the walls ofthe denver airport
i drop my pastryon the ground where people walkabove concourse A
a thousand facesreflect a thousand storiesof a thousand flights
big bolts and levershold white tarpaulin in graceover marbelled floors
i feel like an antcrawling around in a tent looking for haiku
beautiful burgundywoman moves close to seethe words on the sign
three women with british accents must have goneto catch their airplane

some people look atme as though they are on towhat i am doing
interfaith chapelempty with big, comfy chairs-no time for prayers
airport fast food courttravelers rush through their mealssnapping plastic forks
against soft white lightthe pink lounge chair screamspolyurethane!
the people flood inand then they quickly disperseit's the airport pulse
standing in the flowof people rushing, i'm arock in the river
winter travelersreflected in the marble floorsthe constant murmur
child strapped to mamastares up with bright blue eyes atwhite peaks in plastic
