(Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom in Christ)

NON NOBIS, DOMINE, NON NOBIS, SED NOMINE TU O DA GLORIAM!

(Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to Your Name be the glory… Psalm 115:1)

Rigorous teachers seized my youth, And purged its faith and trimmed its fire, Showed me the high, white star of Truth,

There bade me gaze and there aspire.

Vision Statement

We desire that all students will embrace a lifelong love of God, of their fellow man and of learning; that they will grow as men and women of virtue and noble character who live purely, work eagerly, contemplate clearly, listen attentively, discern wisely, reason rightly and articulate accurately . . . and they will do all of this willfully from their hearts as an act of worship for the glory of the Triune God – the Father, the Son (Christ, the Logos) and the Holy Spirit.

Mission Statement

To educate and challenge able and committed students by means of the seven liberal arts and the four sciences, based upon two millennia of enduring classical wisdom, which is rooted in the traditions of historic Christianity. We will cultivate in our students wisdom and virtue by nourishing their souls on truth, goodness and beauty. We will ready them to approach life and vocation in this world with exceptional skill, faith, humility, honor, and delight to the end that, in Jesus Christ – the Wisdom, the Word, and the Son of God – these young men and women are better able to know and enjoy God and are better prepared to live out the Kingdom of God, both in this temporal life and in the life of the world to come.

Statement of Faith

The statement of faith adopted by Hagia Sophia Classical Academy is The Nicene Creed, which is considered to be central to the “Great Hall of Christianity,” and sets Christianity apart from all other faiths. It contains the key elements of Christianity that will be taught without reserve in various ways through all grade levels.

g The Nicene Creed h

“We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages. Light from Light; true God from true God; begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, through whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man. And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried. And on the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead; whose Kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And in one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.”
