This has proven to be the case. The validity of this prediction was confirmed by the focus around Hadoop applications at the Strata conferences this year and in multiple other forums and publications. In light of the growing focus on Hadoop, we have compiled a list of the top 20 most influential individuals around the space. To create this list we used the Twitter applications LittleBird and Right Relevance. Both applications have a formula to calculate the most influential Twitter handles around particular topics. We combined these two rankings, awarding 20 points for being the most influential on a platform, to give each influencer a score out of 40. Tie breakers were awarded to the individual with the most followers. Cloudera in particular has a very strong presence in the rankings, employing four of the top five individual contributors and over a quarter of the 20 most active authors. The Hadoop Top 20 Influencers for 2015 are: Rank Name Twitter Handle Followers Company H Score 1 Mike Olson @mikeolson 19.5K Chief Strategy, Cloudera 38 2 Jeff Hammerbacher @hackingdata 24.5K Founder, Cloudera 37 3 Doug Cutting @cutting 16.3K Chief Architect, Cloudera 37

Hadoop  Top  20  Influencers  for  2015

By  Tom  Howells,  Staff  Writer,  Fraud  &  Technology  Wire    In  our  2015  predictions,  published  at  the  end  of  2014,  we  suggested  that  2015  would  be  the  year  of  native  Hadoop  applications.

LittleBird  offers  a  feature  which  shows  all  of  the  other  influencers  to  whom  a  particular  expert  is  connected.  It  also  divides  them  into  communities.  Below  is  an  illustration  of  the  biggest  community,  which  provides  a  graphical  representation  of  the  large  proportion  of  people  connected  to  Cloudera.

In  our  predictions  for  2016,  we  wrote  that  packaged  machine  learning  applications  built  natively  on  Hadoop  will  become  the  preferred  way  to  detect  fraud  and  revenue  threats  in  mobile  networks  against  massive  communication  service  provider  (CSP)  data  lakes.  In  our  next  post  we  will  look  at  the  top  influencers  in  machine  learning  from  2015.
