Editorial

Let me start these notes by offering a huge THANK YOU to all those in the village who made both

the Gala and the evening event such a great success. The sun shone, the wind was barely gale

nights take place on the first Saturday of the month from 7.30pm until late. Not only is it free of

charge, if you buy a raffle ticket you've even get a chance of winning some mushy peas !

The Bay Horse has also been the venue for the Cook Off which is now at the semi final stage. The

Grand Final will take place before the new year and we are looking to develop the idea for next

year; watch out for more details in future editions of The Breeze. A dates now been fixed for the

senior citizens of Hade Edge Christmas lunch. It will take place on 20th November (yes that's a

Christmas lunch in November.....) again at The Bay Horse. If you are able to help out on the day

EDGY SESSIONS

The Autumn series of Edgy Sessions got off to a bang with an amazing night on Saturday 3rd

September, with five

Acts including Irene Pirerra, Poet and the Loops and a partytastic set from Hade Edge bands Musical Director, Simon

Wood, who, together with members of his family blew the audience away with some Parisian styled party songs like

“Dancing in the Streets” and “Tequila”. Even David Dalton was dancing!!!

Saturday October the 1st is taking shape nicely and Edgy Sessions is delighted to welcome two acts from Hebden

Bridge, Aid n Friends, always entertaining trio, Lauire Lea Sealeaf, our very own Tom Craggs and, by popular

demand, Simon and family are back, if you missed them last month, DO NOT miss this.

BUSK FOR CANCER

This month sees Busk For Cancer return to the streets of the UK and we have decided to donate Octobers raffle

proceeds to this charity. Our legendary raffle which has boasted prizes including pot noodles from Belgium, Mushy

Peas from the back of the cupboard, and “vintage” beer bottles covered in genuine dust, raises money every month

for good causes.

Edgy Sessions (a HEAR initiative) is at the Bay Horse every 1st Saturday of the month from 8.30pm till late and it’s

FREE.

If you’d like to perform at future Sessions or for further information please contact Stephen Murray on 07976 950 792

We look forward to seeing you on the 1st

LOCAL NOTICES

POACHING AT HOLMSTYES RESERVOIR

Huddersfield Angling Association holds the fishing rights at both Boshaw Whams and Holmstyes reservoirs

and the Association spends over £11,000 each year on stocking them with trout. The Secretary of

Huddersfield Angling Association, Geoff Armstrong, has drawn our attention to a number of recent incidents

of children and teenagers believed to come from Hade Edge, caught fishing illegally at Holmstyes. So far,

they have just been “warned off” by Association members but Geoff has asked us to point out that if these

incidents continue in the future, there will be no alternative but to involve the police and to press for

prosecutions.”

SPEEDING THROUGH THE VILLAGE

There has been many reports now of cars and commercial vehicles driving through the village at excessive

speeds. This has been raised with our local councillor Donald Firth, who has organised with the local police

some speed checks, using mobile speed camera’s, and or organising a quote for a light up speed sign

(similar to the one at the Crossroads pub in Holmfirth).

EXERCISING YOUR DOGS IN THE PLAY GROUND

There is no issue for anyone exercising their dogs in the playing field, but the only request is to make sure

that any dog dirt is picked up, this area is used by children, especially lately as the pupils at the school

temporarily do not had their own play field. There are fines in place, so anyone caught not picking up can

be reported to Kirklees council.

VANDALISM AROUND THE VILLAGE

There have been many incidents of vandalism reported around the village, from the Bus Stop being badly

damaged to eggs being thrown at cars and buildings. Can all villagers be vigilant, if you see any acts of

vandalism, please either report it straight to the police or if you know the culprits, please let the committee

know so they can take some action. Let’s keep our village special !!!
