DD Installation & Commissioning
• This is a 4D problem!
• Dec 99 Review Installation sequence changed radically to gain contingency1. Split Silicon into two halves
– Installation: S in Nov.; N in Dec.
2. Push up schedule for installing end toroid iron– done!
• Gain ~3 months contingency over previous schedule– Fallback plans in place
• Installation is now driving all upgrade efforts– even with conting. schedule is still tight
• Commissioning proceeding as parts/detectors arrive

DD On the Horizon(beyond 2 fb-1)
• RunII Physics Goals need 15-20 fb-1
• Run IIb Tevatron– L51032 cm-2s-1
– X’ing angle z 25 12 cm
• Possible Problems for DØ
• Some Constraints– need to maintain IIa performance– time: Run IIb in 2003?– readout chips: limited SVXIIe’s left– and of course… $$$
• Si Solutions under consideration– will choose from many options soon
Rad damage to Si (esp L 1,2) • Partial/full replacement (?)
• Use SS Si back-to-back
Incr. Material imp par degrade • Layer 0 (?)
Track Trigger Rate • Intermediate Si (?)
Central Muon (PDT) Aging • Regular Zapping
H. Evans Beauty 2000 - 15/Sep/00 21
DD Where We Are(and where we’ll be)
• Detector– Production working or winding down
• Worries with Si sensors mainly over
– Emphasis shift to electronics/readout
• Installation– Many detectors installed– Fallback plan 2-3 months contingency
• Commissioning– In full swing!
• Starting work for > 2 fb-1 (Run IIb)
• Nostradamus predicts…
DØ will be ready in February 2001*
* Feb. 16, 2001 to be precise
