Dear Friends of Holy Spirit: Sr. Joann Hunt, our Director of Religious Education, announced through a letter in the bulletin her retirement from her position here at Holy Spirit, as of June 30 , 2012. th
of ministry at this parish and we will honor her on June 30 with a special reception in the gym, th
following the 5:30 Mass. Please mark your calendars and try to attend. As many of you know, we have been engaged in a planning process in the parish over the last several months. We have met with different groups and have held two town hall meetings for the entire communi-ty. Since this planning process to lead to the refocusing of our resources, we have decided to delay the filling of Sr. Joann’s position since the job description might change. For this coming year, I have asked Sr. Joann’s assistant, Gladys Tarter, to oversee the Sunday School religious education and the sacramental preparation for our children. I will be working with Gladys in a supervisory role throughout this coming year. Also, on June 23rd, our parishioner, Michael Slinger, will be ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church and will be serving on a volunteer basis here at Holy Spirit. Last year I asked Mike to take over R.C.I.A. in 2012 and he has been interning with Sr. Joann this year. I will be working more closely with Marriage Prepa-ration and Christ Renews His Parish this coming year and will rely upon greater involvement of lay leadership in these programs. I ask that some of the other programs that Sr. Joann supervised to please continue forward while we await the hiring of a new staff person. Keep us in prayer. God’s Blessings and Love,
