1. Develop Competition and Performance
Opportunities for Non-national Stream
Athletes
• Champion an Inter-provincial competition for our
provincial stream athletes in all disciplines – (2014) Proposed at Operations Council meeting – no interest at this time
• Develop provincial programming targeted
towards our non-provincial stream gymnasts to
encourage ongoing participation in the Canadian
Gymnaestrada – (2014) Recreational Coordinator has been hired
– Ontario Gymnaestrada is scheduled into the
provincial events calendar for 2016

2. Acknowledge and Recognize the Gymnast
• Create a strategy for GO to connect with new and returning competitive athletes

3. Explore Charter Schools and/or Provincial Training Centre – pending

4. Partner with GCG to Develop and Improve
the Coaching Curriculum (NCCP)
• Through GCG Operations Council, participate in progressing their strategy for NCCP
– (2014) Advocating has reduced Foundations Introduction to a 1 day course
– (2014) Coaches can attend Sports Specific courses immediately
– Foundations Theory is now a ½ day course, saving time and costs
• Make recommendations to GCG, including open sourcing of NCCP course materials – The WAG Level 2 theory and tech is being merged into 1
course, with updated and enhanced content to support the Canada-wide move to JO
– As Ontario’s Master Instructor, Bill Rhoads will represent us in this process
– Will likely see changes implemented within a year

5. Develop a Repository of Resources to
Support Coaching Competency
• Have the Coaching Education Committee to evaluate the need, define the scope, and make recommendations for online coaching tools focused on skill development
– (2014) Resources in place for supporting Recreational Coaching through Smart Moves
– Coach Education Committee met this October - LF’s, clubs and staff were present to review and plan “what’s next and where to go?”
• Establish a coach database based on the Linkedin networking model
– Pending

6. Develop a Strategy to Increase the
Number or Level 2 and Level 3 Coaches
– (2014) Data analysis of Level 2 and 3 coaches underway to pinpoint areas of
concentration and form a baseline for strategic initiatives
– Priority for Coach Education Committee to review in
the upcoming year.

7. Review and Streamline all Policies and Technical Regulations
• WAG program – (2014) Addition of the JO program
– Addition of an Invitational Qualifying System and a separate Ontario Championships for Levels 3, 4 & 5
8. Improve Club Compliance to Standards and Policies
• Identify better ways for clubs to self-regulate compliance with membership reporting, coaching certification and equipment standards
– (2014) Notified all clubs of GO registration policy by email
– (2014) Sent a letter to 24 clubs asking them to review their compliance
– (2014) 3,800 additional recreational registrations received
– Sanctioning Committee has been convened to conduct a comprehensive review what activities require sanctioning

9. Acquire Amateur Sport Marketing and
Promotion Expertise
• Marketing Advisory Committee established – (2014) Committee established with expertise in advertising, marketing, public
relations, digital marketing
– (07/14) First meeting was held to set the vision and basic roadmap
– Committee has been reconvened and is active again
• Marketing Coordinator recruited
– Maggie Clapperton hired Aug/2015
• Established Facebook presence
– 440 followers (10+/wk), posts reach 5,000 people
– Developing the GO voice and presence
• Met with Advisory Committee
• Acquired a professional online survey platform

10. Market the sport in partnership with GCG, Clubs, Community and Schools
• Plan in development – currently in Research Phase Step 1: Research the needs and perspectives of our members: clubs,
coaches, competitive athletes and their parents, recreational athletes and their parents, supporters.
• Survey campaign is being finalized
Step 2: Develop GO’s consistent message. Update “look and feel” and develop standards and guidelines.
• Target: Ontario Championships
Step 3: Integrate new guidelines into all standard communications.
Step 4: Match all this with projects that promote membership, partnership and the sport of gymnastics (all disciplines).
