We had an opening day to remember, followed the next week by our Ladies Guest Day. Luckily we were able to have our GWGA members also playing on the same day! We prepared for Thanksgiving with our own Turkey Shoot, where we ‘shot’ (eliminated) our worst three holes. Wouldn’t it be great to do THAT all the Jme? We finished off the month with a TwoBest Ball, Quota points game. In week two, I witnessed Sally Herfurth’s holeinone! CongratulaJon Sally! Then in week 4, I witnessed Carol Swed’s hole inone! CongratulaJons Carol! Those are the 9 th and 10 th holeinones I've witnessed, NONE of them my own! Not that I'm jealous … it's always exciJng to be a witness to this special feat! So, who wants to play with me next week? For the Month of December, we have our Wednesday Playday each week Let's hope for cooler weather so we can wear our Holiday Sweaters on the 20 th ! We also have many bonus events in December. Catalina Cup at the Highlands on the 5 th ; Ironwood Cup at the Gallery on the 6 th (Go Teams!); and our Home & Home with Oro Valley on the 12 th at their club followed on the 13 th at the Gallery. Please signup for the Presidents Cup by December 13 th . This is a fun match play format and you only need to win three matches in this flighted Win or Done compeJJon. With many of you heading elsewhere during the Holidays to visit family and friends, I wish you all safe travels and a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and a Happy New Year! In closing, remember to Come out and play on OUR day… For the Love of Golf!

Community  Campaign

We  are  excited  to  announce  that  our  2018  3  Jill’s  and  a  Jack  Tournament  will  be  supporJng  a  very  worthwhile  organizaJon,  Casa  de  los  Niños.

For  the  past  40  years,  Casa  has  lead  the  way  in  the  prevenJon,  intervenJon  and  treatment  of  abused  children  in  our  community.    Their  goal  is  to  promote  child  well-‐being  and  family  stability  through  educaJon,  prevenJon  and  treatment  for  children  who  are  abused  or  neglected.

They  are  currently  raising  funds  to  build  a  new  family  center  to  beier  provide  high  quality  integrated  care  for  children  and  families  in  the  Tucson  metropolitan  area.    We  believe  that  the  funds  generated  from  this  year’s  3  Jill’s  and  a  Jack  tournament  will  help  Casa  de  los  Niños  reach  this  worthwhile  goal.

The  tournament  will  be  held  on  Wednesday,  March  14th.    Online  registraJon  will  begin  on  February  14th.    This  popular  tournament  fills  quickly,  and  we  are  limited  to  36  teams,  so  be  sure  to  register  early.  Teams  are  comprised  of  three  women  (who  must  be  members  of  the  GWGA)  and  one  male  member  of  the  club.    No  spouses  can  be  on  the  same  team.  The  total  handicap  index  of  the  team  at  the  Jme  of  sign  up  must  add  up  to  at  least  52  and  may  go  as  low  as  50  on  the  day  of  the  event.    If  you  need  help  finding  a  team,  please  email  me  your  name  and  golf  index  at  [email protected]  and  I  will  try  to  find  a  team  for  you.

We  are  excited  about  this  event  and  look  forward  to  your  support  of  Casa  de  los  Niños.

Together  we  will  work  to  change  lives……for  generaJons.

Bunkers  at  The  Gallery

100!!!    92!!!    Those  are  not  golf  scores  but  the  number  of  bunkers  on  Gallery  North  and  South.    192  bunkers  for  Noah  Gessler  and  his  crew  to  maintain  and  192  bunkers  for  us  to  try  to  avoid.  I  asked  Noah  what  work  was  done  on  the  bunkers  this  summer  and  he  said  that  additional  sand  was  added  to  the  green  side  bunkers  only  -‐    at  the  time  of  overseeing.              With  192  bunkers  we  have  hundreds  of  rakes  on  the  course.  When  finished  raking  please  place  the  rake  parallel  with  the  fairway  (not  cross-‐wise).  This  way  the  rakes  should  have  less  influence  on  future  balls  coming  that  direction.              This  is  a  good  time  to  remind  you  that  The  Gallery  has  a  local  rule  allowing  us  to  remove  stones  in  the    bunker  with  NO  PENALTY.              Good  luck  with  the  192!
