1 Kala Vithika

Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod in Gwalior isa memorial of the great Sikh saint andproponent Guru Hargobind Singh. Legendshas it that Guru Har Gobind Singh wasimprisoned by King Jahangir here inthe premises of thisGurudwara for a period of 2 years. Laterwhen he was released, he demanded thedischarge of other 52 Hindu kings, alongwith him. To this, the Mughal King instructedthat whoever holds the robe of the Gurushall be freed along with him. Thus the title'Data Bandi Chhod' was given to GuruHargobind Singh. This attempt of greatnessis till now been applauded by people,regardless of all religions.
Constructed insidethe premises of the GwaliorFort in the year 1970, Gurudwara DataBandi Chhod is one of the most prominentSikh shrines in India. The exterior of theshrine is adorned with white marble andstained glass. The structure of theGurudwara spreads oversix acres and it houses theScindia School, a huge dining hall (Guru kaLangar) and staff accommodations.
