Congratulations to our elementary boys and girls’ running team on your

fantastic effort at the 38th annual Running Room Indoor Games. This event

was an 8 X 200 metre race, held at the

University of Alberta Butterdome on Tuesday, February 16th, 2016.

The boys ran at a quick pace and placed 117 out of 284, with a time of 4:51.

The girls did equally as well, placing 130 out of 267, with a time of 5:09.

Although we did really well and ran with Gator pride, our overall timings

were not fast enough to qualify either team

for the semi-finals.

Mrs. Quaghebeur and Mrs. Morris greatly

appreciated the teams’ dedication to

practices, positive attitudes, and overall

improvement. We look forward to

celebrating with the team at our upcoming

pizza luncheon in March.

This practical, evidence based, program can help parents cope positively with some of the common issues associated with raising a teenager from 11 – 16 years of age. Triple P is a toolbox of solutions where parents set specific goals and strategies to build a stronger relationship with their teenager, reduce conflict, manage problem behaviors and teach emotional self-regulation while helping their teenager stay safe. The aim of Triple P is to increase parental confidence and ability in dealing with parenting challenges. This unique group will run for four weeks of in-class sessions. Follow up telephone consultations are available as well. Group Teen Triple P is being offered @ Guthrie School, Lancaster Park, on four consecutive Wednesdays on April 13, 20, 27 & May 4 from 6 – 8 pm.

Childcare Available To book a place or for more information please e mail [email protected] or call 780-935-9028.

Guthrie is using a new online system for ordering Hot Lunch. If you

wish to purchase a hot lunch for your child please visit

www.HealthyHunger.ca to register with Guthrie School. In just

four easy steps you will be able to preorder hot lunch for your

child. Remember that hot lunch orders must be placed 5 days prior

to the scheduled hot lunch date. We are trying to have healthy

choices as well as keep hot lunch prices between approximately

$5.00—$6.00. When a credit card is used online there is a 2%-3%

service charge added for this on the price of the hot lunch. Even

with the service charge we are keeping lunches in the above price

range. We have a hot lunch coordinator and are not requiring more

volunteers to run the hot lunch program. The school is only

providing this as a service and is not fundraising through this. We

hope you are enjoying this program.

Upcoming Hot Lunch Dates: Subway - Mar 3rd Little Italy - Mar 10th Boston Pizza—Mar 17th

Lost and Found In an effort to keep the lost and found manageable we will be displaying items monthly. The last week of every month, items will be displayed in the front foyer, and all not claimed items will be donated. Hopefully more items are found rather than buried under a “mountain” of stuff. Thanks for your help in this matter.
