Ida, improving By JOHN NELSON Tailgate News Editor The Gurdon Go-Devils hosted the Acorn Tigers Friday night, January 17 and lost a hard-fought ball game 44-37. Go-Devil Head Coach B.J. Rogers said Gurdon went into the game 2 and 9, while top ranked Acorn was 16-6. “It was a close game,” Coach Rogers said. “We played the best defense we have played all year. Acorn has been averaging 65 points a game and we held them to 44.” Acorn led the game quarter by quarter, 16-4, 20-13, 32-25 before the 44-37 victory. Bryson Carter, #13 sophomore point guard for Gurdon, led the Go-Devil scoring with 18 points, had 4 steals and 2 assists. Coach Rogers said his young team had three turnovers. Rogers said Royrick Anderson, #23, a junior and forward, was also in double figures with 11 points and had 3 rebounds. The Go-Devils went on the road to Mt. Ida on Tuesday, losing 64- 43. Coach Rogers it leaves Gurdon 1-6 in the conference and 2-11 overall. He said the Mt. Ida game was tied up at the half, 27-27. Gurdon scored 16 points after the half to Mt. Ida’s 37 points. The Gurdon Go-Devils hosted the Acorn Tigers Friday night,January 17 and lost a hard-fought ball game 44-37.

Go-Devil Head Coach B.J. Rogers said Gurdon went into thegame 2 and 9, while top ranked Acorn was 16-6.

“It was a close game,” Coach Rogers said. “We played the bestdefense we have played all year. Acorn has been averaging 65 pointsa game and we held them to 44.”
