The theme for NAIDOC this year is ‘Always Was, Always Will Be.’ Students participated in a range of activities during the day, including opportunities for weaving, threading bracelets and dot painting. In addition, children were treated to a free sausage sizzle and bottle of water. Classes also decorated their doors around the theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ for our annual Deadly Door competition. The doors will be judged this week and prizes awarded for the winning classes. It was a fantastic day for all students and staff. I would especially like to thank our wonderful Aboriginal Education Officers, Ms Bell and Mrs Collier, who organised the events.

Family Partnership Meetings Family Partnership Meetings will be held again in Week 5,

Term 3, where class teachers will have conferences with

parents/carers and students. During these meetings,

parents/carers will have the opportunity to review goals

that were set in Semester One and establish

personalised goals for each student to work towards

throughout the second semester. These goals will be

developed by the teacher, parent/carer and students and

will be reviewed as part of our reporting process at the

end of Semester Two.

For this semester only, due to School Operation

guidelines, Family Partnership Meetings will only be

conducted via telephone. There will be no school or home

meetings held.

This week, you will receive detailed information

regarding booking a time with your child’s teacher and

some tips for thinking about some goals you would like to

set for your child.

We are a team in the education of your child and we look

forward to meeting with all families throughout Week 5

to ensure each and every student is known, understood

and challenged to achieve their personal best.

Virtual Assembly Last Tuesday we held our virtual assembly, which was

streamed to all classes using the video conferencing tool

‘Zoom’. 5/6D were the hosts of the assembly in the hall

and we just had a small number of YCDI nominees and

Gold award recipients present for the actual assembly.

All other students and teachers were able to watch the

assembly from their class and present their Bronze and

Silver award winners at this time.

Congratulations to all our YCDI award nominees and

winners. You have all worked so hard and we are very

proud of your ongoing efforts.

Pre-Kinder Our Pre-Kinder program will start in Week 2 of Term 3

for children who will be starting school in 2021. During

the sessions children can learn essential pre-

kindergarten skills in a fun and interactive setting whilst

socialising with their peers and becoming familiar with

the BIG school environment. The flyer is included in this

newsletter with all information. Enquiries about the

program are welcomed at the front office.

Term Three As the term draws to a close tomorrow, I would like to

remind everyone that staff members will return to school

next term on Monday 20 July for the Term 3 School

Development Day, where teachers will be involved in

professional learning.

We hope all students enjoy a wonderful school holidays

with their family and we look forward to seeing all

students returning on Tuesday 21 July 2020, for the

first day of Term 3.

Have a wonderful week and happy holidays!
