    Make cookware and learn the art of black-smithing! Discover the basic skills to make useful kitchen and BBQ utensils, emphasiz-ing hand forging and individual expression. Transform steel round, square and flat stock, as well as sheet metal, into your choice of bottle openers, hooks, bowls, cheese knives, spoons, skewers, steak turners, BBQ forks, spatula, ladle or small pan.     INTRO TO THE HAND FORGED BLADE WORKSHOP

    This weekend workshop will cover the basics of forging, grinding, heat treating, and sharp-ening of a small utility knife. The instructor will discuss fit and finish, overall knife design, how to sharpen and care for knives, and how to begin making knives on your own.     THE ART OF THE JAPANESE BLADE WORKSHOP

    In this 5-day intensive students will learn to forge a traditional Japanese tanto blade. The blades will be ground and filed clean. Heat treat will be done with a clay coating to create the “Hamon” or hardening line separating the hard edge from the soft spine. Blades will then be polished and etched to reveal their true beauty. Fee payable with tuition $70.00.

    The Bowie knife is one of America’s most famous knives steeped in history and legend. In this five day intensive, students will learn about forging, grinding, and heat treating this iconic blade.     A variation of which was used in the famous Book of Kells, Uncial — often referred to as the Celtic script — is a majuscule script (written entirely in capital letters). It was commonly used by Latin and Greek scribes from the 4th to the 8th century AD. But you can use it to write your favorite Irish proverb or maybe even a bawdy limerick.     CELTIC KNOTWORK DESIGN WORKSHOP

    Constructed using a grid method, Celtic knots are complete loops without any beginning or end. Early on, these designs were used mainly for decorative purposes. Over time, people began interpreting them as the crossing of physical and spiritual paths, and as symbols for eternity and the endurance of life, love and faith. Celtic knots are also very popular designs for tattoos. Just sayin’. This is an ad-junct to the Uncial calligraphy workshop, but could be taken as a stand-alone class.

    Wearing masks daily has become our new normal. This class will teach you how to make a simple, no sew mask using materials you have at home.
