    GENERAL GUIDE TO

    Shelf Life & Warranty

Met-L-Chek Company manufactures a complete line of nondestructive testing penetrant and magnetic particle materials

All Met-L-Chek Company products are designed to yield maximum value through quality, cost, and usability. Met-L-Chek

Company products are sold under the Met-L-Chek

and Pen-Chek trademarks. Met-L-Chek Company products are manu-factured under license in The Netherlands by NDT Europa.

Met-L-Chek Company denes shelf life as the period of storage time, in closed containers, at ambient conditions

(50-100F/10-37.7C), during which an inspection material will retain its functionality. The stated shelf life of most Met-

L-Chek Company inspection penetrant materials is ve (5) years from date of batch approval. The shelf life of a particlular

material is stated on the batch certication. Older materials performance may be veried through the Met-L-Chek Company

    Pen-Chek

    recertication program.

Inspection materials packed in aerosol cans maintain their functionality providing sufcient propellant remains in the can

to expel the material. Aerosol cans whos propellant has dissipated (escaped) to a level where the material can no longer

be expelled effectively should be rendered unserviceable and discarded within the parameters of local, state and federa

guidelines. See general guide to aerosol cans.

Inspection materials packed in aerosol cans, exceeding the printed shelf life interval, but maintaining sufcient propellant

to effectively expel the material, will maintain their functionality/usability and may be used until the materials become de

pleted or the propellant dissipates (escapes) to a level where the material can no longer be expelled effectively.

Met-L-Chek Company has a three (3) year warranty period, from date of batch approval, on all its products including aero

sols. The warranty covers the replacement of any material found to not perform as intended, provided the material has been

stored in a closed container at ambient conditions. Met-L-Chek Companys liability is limited to the invoice price of the

    material at time of purchase.

In-use materials are not covered by the storage shelf life and warranty. Continued usability of materials may be veriedthrough the Met-L-Chek Company Pen-Chek

    or Mag-Chekrecertication program. The Pen-Chek

    program con

forms to the requirements of AMS-2644E and ASTM E-1417. The Mag-Chek program conforms to the requirements

    ofASTM E-1444.

All containers of Met-L-Chek Company products contain a batch number on the label or on the bottom of the can, in the

case of aerosols. The batch number consists of 4 numbers a letter and two numbers. The rst numbers are the batch, the let

ter is for the month (January = A), and the last numbers are the year. This number is required for identifying a material when

requesting lost certication papers. The date of batch approval is printed on all bulk material labels as well as the stated

storage shelf life period. All Met-L-Chek Company penetrant materials are tested, prior to shipment per the requirements of

AMS-2644E and other OEM requirements, and are certied to their conformance to the requirements.

Met-L-Chek Company has been a QPL qualied penetrant manufacturer since 1952.
