    I. GUIDELINES TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF B.E. 4/4 PROJECT WORKS

    1. The prescribed proformas such as Form-A (Project Work Allotment), Form-B (ProjectWork Attendance Report), Form-C (Progress Report for the said period) for the

    students doing project work in the Department and Form-D (Details of the outside

    organization, Attendance with external guide signature) and Form-E (Progress Report

    for the said period) for those students doing project work outside the Department are

    herewith supplied to monitor the progress of the project work of 4/4 BE students.

    These proformas are self explanatory.

    2. As per the timetable of the project work the students working for project work in the

    department are required to report to the project coordinator at the scheduled timeby giving their attendance and then to meet their respective guides to carry out the

    project work. The students are once again have to report to the project coordinator

    to get their attendance for that day. If they dont report back after project work

    period, though they reported at the beginning will not be given attendance.

    3. For the specified periods mentioned in the Form-B the project coordinator has to fill

    up the Form-B with signatures of the concerned.

    4. The Internal Guide has to obtain the progress report from the each student for the

    said period in the Form-C. This report to be brief and to be written individually by the

    each student.

    5. The students who are working for their project work in any other organization are

    required to fill up the Form-D. They have to take the Form-D along with them while

    going to other organizations to do their project and to get the counter signature of

    the external guide for their attendance. They have to submit the same to the

    internal guide and the project coordinator to get the attendance at the college. They

    are also required to keep the Form-E along with them to write the progress of thework for the said period and to get it counter signed by the external guide.

    6. To write the progress of the project work being carried out, either in the Department

    or in any other organization, the students have to maintain 200 pages long note

    book. The day-to-day work is to be recorded in the note book and to get it

    countersigned by the Internal Guide/ External Guide.

    7. The Project Coordinator has to collect the Progress Report (Form C / E) from the

    students and to submit to the Principal/Dean (Acad.) for verification during his visit to

    the Department one week before the 1st review and also one week before the final

    review. The exact dates of visit of Principal/Dean (Acad.) will be informed to the

    concerned Department one day before.

    II. GUIDELINES TO EVALUAGE THE PROJECT WORK REPORTSESSIONAL MARKS (50Marks)

    1.

    The Internal Guide is required to monitor the progress of the project work being carried

    out regularly and to get evaluated for the each period mentioned below accordingly. It

    has to be signed by the Internal Guide and the HoD for each period and to give the

    marks as per the guidelines given below:

    A)

    Regularity (Attendance) : (5Marks)

    B)

    Progress Report for each period :(10 Marks)

    30 periods (5 weeks)

    24 periods (4 weeks)

    24 periods (4 weeks)

    Final review report : (35

    Marks)

    1st Review (PPT Presentation) : 35 Marks Average of 1st & 2nd reviews will

    be taken

    2nd & final Review (PPT Presentation) : 35 Marks

    Total : (50 Marks)

    2.

    For the review of the project work, the student is required to give two PowerPoint

    Presentations (Seminar) for a duration of minimum half-an-hour. The 1st

    Review will beat the end of two said periods (30 + 24 periods = 54 periods) and the 2nd & final Review

    will be towards end of the project work (24 + 12 periods = 36 periods). The final

    review should cover the entire project work.

    The 1st and 2nd reviews are to be evaluated by a committee consisting of the Internal

    Guide, Project Coordinator, two Subject Experts from the Department and the HoD.

    3.

    The Internal Guide has to award the marks for the regularity by taking the details from

    the Project Coordinator.

    CIRCULAR

    Sub: Guidelines for preparation of Project Report B.E. 4/4 II-Sem. Reg.

    All the students are hereby instructed to follow the guidelines as givenbelow for the preparation of the Project Report. The draft report is to besubmitted on or before 01.04.2013 positively. As the Project Viva(University exam) is likely to be held in the second week of April 2013, anydelay in submission cannot be considered. The final report along with softcopy is to be ready for submission by 06.04.2013.

    Guidelines:

    A. The report shall be arranged in the following pattern:

    1. Title sheet2. Certificate from Industry, internal guide3. Acknowledgements4. Table of contents5. List of Figures and tables6. Abstract7. Introduction

    8. Literature Review9. Problem definition, formulation and modeling, analysis etc.10. Experimental test set up description where applicable11. Results and discussion12. Conclusion13. Suggestions for further work14. References (The references shall be as per ASME practice)

    Appendix (if any)

    B. The report shall be got bound with black calico and the cover pageembossed with gold lettering on the top cover

    C. The soft copy of title sheet, certificate may be collected from theProject Coordinator.

    ME 482PROJECT

    Instruction 6 Periods per weekDuration of University Examination VivaUniversity Examination Grade*Sessional 50 Marks

    Solving a real life problem should be the focus of U.G project. Faculty members should prepareproject briefs well in advance. They should be made available to the students at the DepartmentalLibrary. A project may be classified as hardware/ Software/modelling /simulation. It should involveelements such as analysis, design and synthesis.

    The Department will appoint a project coordinator who will be in charge of the following:

    Grouping of students (maximum of three in a group)

    Allotment of projects and project guide.

    Project monitoring at regular intervals

    A Project allotment is to be completed by the 4th week of 1st semester of IV year so that studentsget sufficient time for completion of their project.

    All the project are to be checked for progress at least twice in a semester. It should be on the basisof presentation of the students.

    Sessional marks to be based on the Grade/ Marks, awarded by a monitoring committee compresingof faculty members as well as by the supervisor.

    Efforts to be made so that some of the projects are carried out in industries. Project may also beinvited form industries.

    Norms of final documentation of the project report are to be provided by the Department.
