• This service is usually provided by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and pharmacists who are board certified in pain management.
Guidelines for Chronic Pain Management
• It is very important to choose the right kind of treatment. Here are some guidelines for chronic pain management
Study and Know the History
• Choosing a course of treatment begins with knowing the history of the pain. How long it has been, what were the adjoining pain, etc.
Determine the Cause of Pain
• Determine what is causing pain; it could be a symptom of another problem. It can indicate a broken bone, a pinched nerve, or some other organic cause.
Identify Whether It Is Nociceptive or Neuropathic Pain:
• Nociceptive pain indicates that the nerves are aware of some injury and is signalling the brain.
• Neuropathic pain indicates that your nervous system is not working properly.
