Scope and Contents

Series 12, Plants and Animals, 1831-1984, undated, contains approximately 4,000 pieces of sheet musicand other materials documenting the development of and popular attitudes towards plants and animals inthe United States. The materials are grouped by subject and arranged alphabetically by title within eachfolder unless otherwise noted in the container list. The dates of the sheet music refer to the copyright ofthe music and not to the subject on the cover, songwriter's life, or other events. In addition, there is onebox of ephemera arranged in the same subseries order as the music listing, which is described followingthe container list.
