Pig ‘N’ Whistle Riverside was established in 2002 and has since become one of Queensland’s most iconic British sporting pubs. Boasting two projector screens and 11 large HD television screens, there is no questioning why it is famously known as Brisbane’s Home of Sport. Fitted-out with English décor, the bar and restaurant is award-winning, proud to have won the award for Best Themed Bar in Queensland in 2014 and 2016.

Location, location! The Queen Street Mall Pig ‘N’ Whistle is situated at the bottom of one of Australia’s busiest pedestrian malls and is your go-to after a long day at the Gabba. The menu is extensive, the portions are hearty and the staff are friendly. It’s also open 24 hours so stumble over after the pre-Ashes party and tick another Pig ‘N’ Whistle off your list of places to visit!

EAT & DRINK

Recently renovated and boasting one of Brisbane’s best rooftop bars Jimmy’s on the Mall is as central as you’ll find them when it comes to great watering holes in Brisbane City. Look for the lush green vertical gardens and plates of Moreton Bay Bugs coming out by the dozens. Perk yourself on the Upper Deck and watch the world go by below.

Yet another venue with a beautiful location, Pig ‘N’ Whistle King George Square is situated overlooking Brisbane’s City Hall. It is easy to find with plenty of public transport options nearby. Live music takes place every night from 5pm and on November 25 you can even catch a much-loved Brisbane tradition - the lighting of the Christmas Tree at King George Square. Make sure you book a table to avoid disappointment!

Pig ‘N’ Whistle West End is within walking distance of all of Brisbane’s best attractions. Take a walk through South Bank, check out the cultural and food-centric hub of West End or simply sit in the outdoor beer garden with a cold beer. For those who like the finer things in life, you cannot pass by a visit to Pig ‘N’ Whistle West End – the slightly swish sibling in the Pig ‘N’ Whistle family.

Craft beer like you’ve never seen it before! Here you’ll find the entire James Squire range on tap (grab a tasting paddle!), with some exclusive beers available that have been brewed in The Charming Squire’s very own onsite microbrewery. There is live music every night of the week and a breakfast menu certain to fix even the sorest of heads after the pre-Ashes party! It’s also just a five minute walk from the beautiful South Bank promenade.

THINGS TO DO

Eagle Street Pier has been a part of Brisbane City for over 150 years, initially the place where many coastal passenger and cargo ships would come into Brisbane. Although it no longer serves this purpose, Eagle Street Pier is now one of Brisbane’s best riverfront destinations with unrivalled views of the Brisbane River. It is also home to the Barmy Army evening HQ, Pig ‘N’ Whistle Riverside. The boardwalk stretches from the Botonical Gardens all the way to New Farm, and offers a great walking route if you find yourself feeling extra energetic.

The City Botanic Gardens are located just a short walk from all the city-based Pig ‘N’ Whistle venues. There are self-guided walks allowing you to see what this beautiful attraction has to offer, and points of interest can be accessed via the Brisbane City Council website. Bamboo Grove, Weeping Fig Avenue, Riverstage and ornamental ponds are just a few attractions you should look out for! Head along to the Riverside Markets that take place within the gardens every Sunday from 8am-3pm.

A thriving urban precinct, South Bank offers lush parklands, countless places to eat and stunning panoramic views of the river. Take a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane, dip your toes at Streets Beach and then head to The Charming Squire for live music, craft beers and plenty of atmosphere. On a nice day take a ride on the City Hopper, a free ferry that runs every 30 minutes between 6am and midnight, seven days a week.

Shop ‘til you drop in Queen Street Mall and once the credit card has maxed head to Pig ‘N’ Whistle Queen Street Mall or Jimmy’s on the Mall to refuel. From thrift shops, department stores right across to high-end and luxury destinations, there is something for everyone. There are also plenty of souvenir shops for you to pick up a token koala keyring for the family back home.
