Dear Families,

We can’t wait to welcome you to Camp Liberty for a summerre-imagined! A summer of freedom, resilience, and connectionsis just around the corner for all Girl Scouts and even their families.

While last summer was one we could never imagine, we are so thankful for the camp staff and families who helped us move forward and continue planning adventurous and skill-building opportunities. As we look forward to summer, we are excited to share that we are fully committed and prepared to offer in-person summer camp experiences.

As we navigate COVID-19 challenges, our team will be ready with the safety procedures to keep all of our campers safe and having fun. This upcoming summer camp will operate with lower capacities, restricting the number of spots for sessions. We recommend your family sign up promptly when registration opens and prepare a list of alternatives.

To have as many available spots as possible, we have re-imagined family camp as well! We are adding “You and Me” camps to Camp L-Kee-Ta, near Burlington, and Camp Little Cloud, near Dubuque. These sessions welcome girls and a favorite family member, or family friend, to enjoy the outdoors together.

Let’s re-imagine summer together!

Welcome to Camp Liberty! Nestled on 245 wooded acres in New Liberty, Iowa, Camp Liberty is a special place for all girls to explore the outdoors and just be themselves. Summer camp programs are designed to challenge girls to find independence, create friendships, and take risks ina safe and supportive environment. Whether she’s climbing to the top of the high ropescourse for the firsttime, starring in an all-camp skit, hitting a bullseye, or steering a canoe, she’s answering the call to adventure!

Call 800-798-0833 or email [email protected] with questions about Girl Scout summer camp. Every girl should have the opportunity to experience outdoor program, and our staff is trained and ready to help accommodate any needs.

We firmly believe that camp is transformative.

Girl Scout summer camp is a unique space where girls come together from across the council with different backgrounds, abilities, and experiences to have fun and learn new skills. Our trained and caring staff members support girls in discovering who they are and what they can become. Each activity is designed to support the following outcomes in every girl:

Girls have confidence in themselves and their abilities, and form positive identities.

Girls act ethically, honestly, and responsibly, and show concern for others.

Girls take appropriate risks, try things even if they might fail, and learn from mistakes.

Girls maintain healthy relationships by communicating their feelings directly and resolving conflicts constructively.

Girls desire to contribute to the world in purposeful and meaningful ways, learn how to identify problems, and create “action plans” to solve them.

How to Register!IndividualsGirl Scouts attend summer camp on their own at a time that fits their schedules. Girls do not need to attend with their troops to experience the fun of Camp Liberty. Because most girls are attending individually, camp is a great opportunity to make new friendships that will last a lifetime.

BuddiesGirls are invited to bring friends to summer camp! Their buddies can already be members of Girl Scouts, or they can invite a friend who hasn’t joined yet. During the registration process, there will be a field to indicate a buddy who is signing up for the same camp session. This buddy should also request your camper while registering so they will be matched.

Families If your camper wants to bring a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, older sibling, or family friend to join their outdoor experience, look for You and Me sessions throughout the summer.

Non-MembersEvery girl is invited to summer camp! Whether she is attending on her own or as a buddy, she can find the perfect session for summer fun. For non-members, the Girl Scout membership fee is only $25 and opens up the opportunity to join outdoor events throughout the year.

Session grade levels are based on the grade your camper will be entering in the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. For example, first graders who are currently Daisies should look at Brownie sessions for grades 2-3.

Individual overnight sessions begin with Brownie sessions for girls in grades 2-3 in the 2021-2022 school year. Current Kindergarteners who will be entering grade 1 in the fall are invited to family camp sessions.

Unless indicated as a weekend or mini session, overnight camps run Sunday-Friday.

Family camps are 24-hour programs with an overnight running from Sunday-Monday, Wednesday-Thursday, or Friday-Saturday.

As our team re-imagines summer, changes have been made to our camper check-in process. This summer, as you drive into camp, families will remain in their cars as they move from station to station. When arriving at your camper’s unit to move them in, we ask that only one family member gets out to settle them in. Below are the new check-in times.

Campers in grades 2-3: check-in at 3:00 p.m. on the start date of their sessionCampers in grades 4-5: check-in at 2:00 p.m. on the start date of their sessionCampers in grades 6-12: check-in at 1:00 p.m. on the start date of their session

More details for the check-in process can be found in the Family Camp Handbook on GirlScoutsToday.org/summercamp.

Sign-Up TipsReview this guide with your camper in advance of registration opening. If she wants to attend with a buddy, make sure the other family is registering at a similar time and marks your camper as a buddy as well.

Registration for summer camp opens on February 1, 2021, at 6:00 a.m. Typically, many sessions fill on the first day of registration. Because we are limiting capacities due to COVID-19, we highly recommend parents are ready to sign up in the first few hours of registration opening with a few alternative sessions ready.

A limited wait-list will be available for full sessions. We encourage families to register for another session if on a waitlist. We will help move the registration if the waitlist session reopens.

All registrations require a 15% non-refundable deposit that will be applied to the total camp fee. Non-members or non-renewed members will pay an additional $25 Girl Scout membership fee. The recently joined members are not required to join a troop or other programs but are invited to explore the perks of membership!

After completing registration, visit GirlScoutsToday.org/summercamp and download a copy of the Family Handbook. This handbook has all the important information your family needs to prepareyour camper for their summer camp experience.

Need-to-Know InfoRegistration for summer camp opens onFebruary 1, 2021, at 6:00 a.m.

Payment Information To accommodate all of our families, there are three pricing levels. Choose the tier that is most suitable for your family. Each household makes this decision, and additional financial documents will not be required. We want to make sure every girl has the opportunity to explore the outdoors! When you register, you will be asked to select the tier your family can afford:

Tier A reflects the true cost of camp, including staff expenses, maintenance, food, program, and supplies.Tier B is a partially subsidized rate but closely reflects the costs associated with the camp.Tier C is our standard subsidized fee, supported by other revenue sources, donations, and grants.

Email [email protected] or call 800-798-0833 for more information about the availabiltiy of additional grants for campers.

Due to limited capacity in 2021, we are launching a new camp payment schedule. Please be sure that regular payments are made, so we know who plans to attend their session. Failure to make scheduled payments could result in cancellation.

• Deposit will be 15% of the total fee• 30% Payment Due by March 19, 2021• 30% Payment Due by April 9, 2021• Final Payment Due by April 30, 2021

Girl Scouts can use program credits earned through the Fall Product and Cookie Programs to attend summer camp. Program credits cannot be used toward the initial, non-refundable deposit but can be applied later to the total camp fee in the registration system. It’s not too late tojoin the Cookie Program and earn program credits!

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts who sell cookies can join the feed-a-horse program and support our lovable friends, the Camp Liberty horses! Find more information about girl rewardson GirlScoutsToday.org.
