    This course is designed for all thoseinterested in the visual arts andintercultural topics and in developingtheir skills in a foreign language, or ingetting in touch with the newinformation and communicationtechnologies in an interesting way. Thegeneral objective of this course is tohelp the participants acquire orimprove their intercultural and/ordigital competences and to encourageteaching professionals to designpractical strategies to foster oral andwritten skills in the foreign languageclassroom.

    Dist$!ce #e$r!i!": The course is basedon distance learning, thus following themethodologies of e-learning and onlineeducation. This involves making use ofvideoconferences, T recordings,forums, chats, etc., to which thestudent can access from any computerwith internet connection and some

    basic software. !ll the mandatorywritten and audiovisual materials areprovided too, and the students candownload them and use them in theway they find convenient. !lso, somecomplementary books may berecommended.

    Co!te!ts $!d $cti.ities: The course isdivided in three parts, and each parthas several units.

    )* The first part of the course presents

    an introduction to artistic and culturalmovements, and it has a criticalapproach: that is, the students willhave to become art and culture critics,once some notions on how to analy(eand write critical essays are provided.

    The tasks suggested for this part willinclude describing or discussingartwork, a film or a theatre play,providing a script for a film scene,

    organi(ing a virtual tour to a +useum,etc. tudents will work individually.urthermore, depending on the numberof participants and if they areinterested in group activities,cooperative and collaborative tasks willbe suggested.

    * The second part of the courseconsists of the %ed$"o"ic$# $%%#ic$tio!of the $c0uired s1i##s i! the #$!"u$"ec#$ssroo23n this part a briefintroduction to the history and state ofthe art of methods and languageteaching methodologies is given.0esides, an overview of the main andmost recent strategies and resources inthe foreign language classroom isprovided, following approaches such as122 31ontent and 2anguage ntegrated

    2earning-, Task-based !pproach, orTransferrable kills !pproach, withspecial focus on the use of art andculture. inally, the coursecontemplates the design of didacticunits and lesson planning with thetopics of art and culture.

    una introducci'n a los movimientosart&sticos y culturales, y tiene unenfoque cr&tico: es decir, losestudiantes tendr#n que asumir elpapel de cr&ticos culturales, una ve(que se les haya proporcionado algunasnociones sobre c'mo anali(ar y escribirensayos cr&ticos. 2as tareas sugeridaspara esta actividad incluir#n describir ydebatir sobre obras art&sticas, una

    pel&cula o una obra de teatro,proporcionar un gui'n para la escena deuna pel&cula, organi(ar una visitavirtual a un museo, etc. 2os estudiantestrabajar#n de forma individual, aunquedependiendo del n4mero departicipantes y si aqu5llos est#ninteresados se sugerir#n actividadesgrupales y cooperativas.

    The final task for this part will bedesigning a didactic unit based on someartistic of cultural topic, with at leastthe lesson planning for one day.

    teaching team will provide materialsand a wide amount of informationresources and guidelines for thereading, use and selection of suchmaterials. These include authenticartistic and cultural material andresources 6artwork -pictures,sculptures, video installations, and soon-, advertisements, film trailers,music, architectural hits*.
