Three different standing terracotta attendants, green and yellow straw glaze, two on a rectangular platform base and one a tiered rectangular base. Clad in various long garments with wide sleeves, one holding a box and another holding a towel. Painted black and white details. The smallest example has an articulated head glued in place, legs reattached, loss to the collar and scattered surface losses. The medium figure has some loss to her hairdo and scattered paint losses, otherwise intact. The final figure has a chipped nose and some loss to the painted surface. Shaman’s InstrumentsNepal. 12”H., & 19-1/2”H.Sam Hilu collection, NYC.Largest is a dhyangro, or shamans drum handle with four faces around the cylindrical top, eternity knots and a vajra carved in the grip, and below is a makara or a chimera head with a three-sided dagger emerging below. The tip of the blade and the grip also bear iron strips and covering. Dark brown encrusted patina, shows good age.
