City’s top attractions on a driving tour with a local tour guide.

MUSEUMS OF GUATEMALA CITY TOUR

Guests will be picked up at their hotel of preference and will be taken to the Museum Popol Vuh

(www.popolvuh.ufm.edu), where we will find a permanent exhibition that contains objects representing all

areas and periods of the prehispanic periods in Guatemala. The exhibition is organized chronologically and

covers from the first signs of human presence in the territory of Guatemala, until the time of the Spanish

conquest.

Afterwards we will visit the Museum Ixchel (www.museoixchel.org), which has an important textile

collection conformed with pieces that date from finals of the century happened until our days, from roughly

120 communities, situated in his majority in the Guetemalan Highlands. The museum permanently exhibits

two pictorial collections: the one of Carmen of Pettersen, that consists of 61 watercolours that illustrate

regional suits of the Mayas and the one of 48 oils painted by Andrés Curruchiche, artist Maya-kakchiquel of

Comalapa.

Continuing with our route encontramos the Railway Museum. Through its permanent exhibition it offers

visitors a number of selected objects that are part of the collection of real estate company Ferrocarriles de

Guatemala (FEGUA).

Arriving to the Museum of Miraflores (www.museomiraflores.org), observe in the frontal square lto

replica of one of the hydraulic canals that existed in Kaminaljuyú from the year 600 before Christ with what

the native that habited this zone constituted in pioneers of the hydraulic technology. Also it stands out in

this space, the maqueta that reconstructs the buildings of Kaminaljuyú, and on which signals the area that

covered in the antiquity this important city. Already in the interior of the museum, will appreciate maps,

photos and planes of the archaeologic investigations made in Kaminaljuyú, as well as an enormous

collection of objects of ceramics and sculpture in stone of greater quality, some altarpieces of deities and

vessels decorated.

When finalising our route by the most important museums of the City of Guatemala, the passengers will be

moved to the hotel where will lodge .

PACAYA VOLCANO EXPEDITION

Guests will be picked up at their hotel of preference, to be moved towards the Pacaya Volcano, which

is located two hours away of the City of Guatemala. Before initiating the hike we will make a brief stop in

order to meet with one of the local tour guides, throughout the tour we will appreciate the huge variety of

flora and fauna.

The Volcano of Pacaya has a height of 2,500 metres above sea level. The hike will take nearly 1 hour with

45 minutes depending on the physical condition of the tourist. In the place will be able to appreciate rivers

of lava, product of past eruptions and with luck discover lava incandescente through his rocky trainings. The

hike back and forth will take roughly 5 hours.

CHICHICASTENANGO AND LAKE ATITLAN 1 FULL DAY

Guests will be picked up at their hotel of preference.

The tour will start with a transfer towards the colorful market of Chichicastenango, in this market

your guests will be able to visit the church of Santo Tomas and the famous open air market that

gathers up indigenous people from over 120 communities.

At noon, we will head towards one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, yes we are talking

about the Lake Atitlan, which is surrounded by 3 volcanoes and the lake that lays in between them,

we will have a visit of the town Panajachel, which is one of the most important comerce towns that

we have in this gorgeous lake. Then we will return back to the hotel.

COPAN 1 DAY TOUR

Guests will be picked up at their hotel of preference.

We will head towards the border between Guatemala and Honduras, making 1 quick stop At Rio

Hondo Zacapa in order so guests can have a quick breakfast (breakfast is not included), afterwards we

will continue to the border of the neighbouring country. After a short trip we will be arriving to the

Archaeological sit of Copán: Where the Mayans emigrated 2,000 years before Christ. Among its beauties,

Copan has one of the most beautiful Mayan Temples where it’s stairs have one of the largest Mayan

Inscriptions carved in stone, over 1250 inscriptions carved, as well as one of the largest Mayan Ball Court.

Copan also has a large connection of underground tunnels wich guests can enter if they would love to,

however there is an additional charge to enter to the tunnels however this is not included in the below fare.

TIKAL 1 DAY TOUR

Guests will be picked up at their hotel of preference at 05:00am and then they will be dropped off at

the airport in order to board the aeroplane that will take them to the Airport Mundo Maya in Petén, (Air Fare

included). Once in Peten guests will be escorted to Tikal National Park for a 3 hour tour of the site.

Tikal has an area of over 576 square kms, and it offers your guests an incredible combination of Mayan

Heritage, surplus vegetation, and wild life. Do not be surprised if you see a large amount of Toucans,

Ocelots, Spider Monkeys, Howling Monkeys, etc. Most of the Temples can be hiked, and as a must we we

suggest temple number IV which is the largest one in the Park with an altitude of 69 Mts.

Breakfast will be served inside or nearby of the park (drinks not included). Return to the airport World

Maya to take the flight to the City of Guatemala. Welcome in the international airport and then transfer to

the hotel where guests will rest .

VISIT TO CHICHICASTENANGO AND LAKE OF ATITLAN

DAY 1

Guests will be picked up at their hotel of preference to the hour below indicated and moved towards

one of the mos colorfould markets in Guatemala Chichicastenango,in this village guests would be able to

admire one of the largest indigenous markets in the country. Following the market we will take you over to

the the Church of Santo Tomas were you will witness the sincretism between Chritian and Mayan customs.

Past noon we will drive over to the the town of Panajachel, which is on of the 12 Mayan indigenous villages

that surround the Gorgeous Lake Atitlan.

Hotel accomodation will be found in Panajachel

DAY 2

Breakfast. On the morning the passengers reached the pier where they will board public boat and begin the

journey across the lake to Santiago Atitlan, in this town guests would be able to sightsee the town’s local

catholic church, as well as a quick view of our famous Ri Laj Mam (God of Money among locals) at noon

we will head back to Panajachel so guests can enjoy some free time, and we will head back to the city at

3:00 PM.

What You Can Expect Day 1 5:00am: From Guatemala City or 4:00 from La Antigua Departure from the hotel in Antigua or Guatemala City. DIA 1

This morning guests will be picked up at the hotel at 05:00am, and taken to the airport to take a flight to

Flores, Peten. (Air tikect is included). Passengers will be arriving at the Mundo Maya Airport and be taken

to the National Park of Tikal, where their leader will guide them through the Complex “Q”, Central Square,

North Acrópolis and its Heartland, Complex of the Stray World and Temple IV. Lunch will be served within

the Naional Park (Drinks not included). Later in the afternoon hotel transfer where guests will be

accomadated to their rooms.

DIA 2

American breakfast. Spare morning. This day guests can take any of the optional excursions that are

listed on page 15 of the Tarifario. Later, in the afternoon they will be taken to the Mundo Maya Airport,

VISIT TO THE PLACE ARQUEOLOGICO OF EL MIRADOR

5 DAY AND 4 NIGHTS

Day 1.

FLORES / CARMELITA / TINTAL.

At 05:00am from the hotel guests will be taken to the Town of Carmelita, a trip duration of 2 hrs and half. Breakfast

is inluded. The trip starts by heading to the Archaeological site “El Mirador”. The route taken is through irregular

footpaths and will require an average physical resistance. For those guests who are not used to this type of physical

activity there will be mules available for every 2 passengers. The luggage will always be carried by our mules. This

very frist day will last for about 5-7 hours. Snacks In route. We will camp at the archaeological site of Tintal, and

when arriving will visit the pyramid León, its road and Aqueduct. By the end of the day will enjoy the sunset over the

pydramid of Henequen. Guests will be accomadated in tents. Dinner is included.

Day 2.

TINTAL / EL MIRADOR

Breakfast. We start first thing in the morinng our journey that will be from six to seven hours. Throughout the tour

will experience the presence of Monkeys Aulladores, Spider monkeys, Jabalíes, Parrots, Tucanes and many more

animales from this region. This part of the tour will take the road that Mayans would use to take back in the days to go

from one city to another. Snacks In route. When arriving to El Mirador will visit a group of Pyramids called “Grupo

La Muerta” as well as an Engraved . We will camp at the Archaeological site of El Mirador. Dinner is Included.

Day 3

EL MIRADOR

Breakfast. In the morning will visit The Pyramid The Danta, considered the Worlds Biggest one, due to its height and

base. From the top will be able to appreciate the dense and still preserved jungle that surrounds this archaeological site,

as well as many other pyramids that are outlined from the horizon. Snack In route. Later in the afternoon a visit to the

Group Pava, Complex Puma, Complex Guacamaya and the Complex 34 or Garra de Jaguar. Dinner is included.

Day 4.

EL MIRADOR / TINTAL.

Breakfast. In the morning will begin our return to the archaeological site of Tintal. The journey to head back to Tintal

will be between six and seven hours. Lunch is included. Once we arrive to Tintal there will be time to rest. Dinner is

Day 5.

TINTAL / CARMELITA / FLORES.

Breakfast. First thing will visit in Tintal the Group Islands, its named like this because of the group of pyramids that

make part of it. We will continue our trip to Carmelita a duration of around five to six hours. Snack In route. Once

we arrive to Carmelita a bus will take the guests to Flores where they will be lodged at the hotel of their choice.

Civilization. Later will continue with the trip until arriving to Rio Dulce. Once there will accomadate guests

Rio Dulce – Livingston – Flores.

Breakfast. In the morning a visit by boat through Rio Dulce, to the Castle of Saint Felipe de Lara, the Island

Los Pajaros, thermal waters and the garífuna population of Livingston. Later in the afternoon back to Rio

Dulce where they are lodged.

Day 5. Saturday or Wednesday

Flores – Tikal – Guatemala City

Breakfast. Early morning guests will be taken to the archaeological site of Tikal, beyond all doubt, one of

the most important cities for the Mayans. Lunch Included (except drinks). By the end of the day guest will

Breakfast. Guests will be picked up at the hotel at the hour indicated by the hotel to visit the Main Plaza, the Jade

Factory, the Church La Merced, San Francisco and the Cathedral. In the afternoon there will be a visit to the the near

by towns: San Antonio Agua Calientes and San Felipe de Jesús. There will also be a visit to the first Cathedral of

Ciudad Vieja. Afterwards they will be taken back to the hotel where they are lodge .

Day 3. Wednesday or Saturday

Antigua Guatemala / Iximché / Chichicastenango

Breakfast. Guests will be picked up at their hotel. Heading north, there will be a stop to visit Iximché, archaeological

site located in Tecpán. Iximxhe was the first capital city of Guatemala. Its reamins are found in a forest made up of

pine trees, typical of the highlands of Guatemala. Afterwards the trip is continued heading towards Chichicastenango,

where they will be accomadated.

Day 4. Thursday or Sunday

Chichicastenango / Panajachel

Breakfast. Early in the morning guests may choose to go to Mass, and afterwards visit the traditional market

considered the biggest one in Central America. This market is only open Thursdays or Sundays. Later guests will be

taken to Panajachel, a town located nearby one of the most beautiful lakes of the world: The Lake Atitlán. Here guests

will be accomadated to their hotel.

Day 5. Friday or Monday

Panajachel / Santiago Atitlán / City of Guatemala

Breakfast. Guests will start their day with a visit to Santiago Atitlan, a near by village, by boat, a sailing which they

will enjoy. Here people are recognized for their art skills, reflected in their rustic paintings of oil and tempera, which

exhibits beautiful landscapes of the majestic lake and of their daily life. Once finished this tour guest will be taken back

to Panajachel to then head back to Guatemala city where they will be accomadated to their hotel.

Lagoon Petexbatún-Aguateca- Flores.

Breakfast. Guests will sail by the lagoon and the stream Aguateca. Then will proceed to visit the archaeological site of

Aguateca. It will be a thirty minute walk to get to the ruins. Short tour and then head back to the camp site for lunch.

Later transfer to Flores where guests will be accomadated.

Flores –Tikal - Guatemala

Breakfast. Visit to the Mayan City Tikal, definitely one of the most important Mayan cities. Breakfast Included

site “El Baul" which has innumerable stelas and sculptures of the prehistoric Mayan civilizations, of which stands out a

huge stone carved into a face which represents the " God of the World ". The trip continues towards La Democracia, a

place where some relics, characteristic of the Pipil and Olmec civilizations where discovered. Visit to the

Cotzumalguapa Culture Museum, located between the farms Ilusiones and Bilbao. After wards shuttle to

Quetzaltenango.

Day 3. Friday

Quetzaltenango - Almolonga - San Andrés Xecul - San Francisco El Alto - Lake Atitlan

Breakfast. In the morning visit to the Almolonga market, known for the variety of vegetables and fruits grown in the

area and which are exported to Central America and Mexico. The tour takes us to San Andrés Xecul , where an

important temple of the late sixteenth century is located; which has a spectacular appearance with bright yellow, color

that represents the colorful design of the local huipil. Saints and angels share the facade with corncobs and various

quetzals. Afterwards, visit to San Francisco El Alto. This place has one of the largest wholesale markets. In the

afternoon, will head to the wonderful Lake Atitlan where guests will accommodate at Panajachel.

Day 4. Saturday

Panajachel - Santiago Atitlan - Panajachel

Breakfast. In the morning, we will board the public boat that will take us to Santiago Atitlan across Lake Atitlan.

Arriving at this town Tzutuhil, we will discover that it is famous for its handicrafts and colorful typical dress. on the

Breakfast. The trip will start by heading to the northeast of the country up to the border. Visit the archaeological site of

Copan, where you may treasure the Mayan Field ball game and the pyramids. (Tour does not include Tunnels, graves

and Museum). Transfer to hotel for accommodation.

Day 7. Thursday or Monday

Copan - Quirigua - Rio Dulce.

Breakfast. Depart from Copan with destination to the Guatemalan Caribbean. On our way a visit to the archaeological

site of Quirigua, where they will treasure the biggest stelas of the Mayan civilization. Afterwards, they continue their

trip to Rio Dulce to their respective hotel.

Day 8. Friday or Tuesday

Rio Dulce - Livingston - Flores.

Breakfast. In the morning, sail through Rio Dulce, to visit the Castle of San Felipe de Lara, La Isla de los Pajaros,

thermal waters and the Garifuna population of Livingston. In the afternoon return to Rio Dulce and transfer to Flores

for hotel stay.

Flores - Tikal - Guatemala City

This park has 576 square kilometers, offering a combination of monumental buildings, surrounded by lush vegetation

and wildlife. It is very common to see toucans, ocelots, small animals such as spider monkeys, howler monkeys and

raccoons among others. They can scale structures such as Temple IV, the largest pre-Hispanic America building (69

meters or 230 feet). The picnic lunch will be served inside the park (drinks are excluded). At the end of the tour, return

to the hotel in Flores and accommodation.

Day 6. Wednesday or Sunday

Flores (Petén) -Yaxchilán-Palenque

Breakfast. From Peten guests will be taken to the Usumacinta River to cross the Mexican border by boat to then head

to the archaeological site of Yaxchilan (Piedras Verdes in Mayan). This is a city of the Mayan civilization, which is,

located by the Usumacinta River in the current state of Chiapas, Mexico. Yaxchilan as known for the many quality

sculptures found on site. Lunch box included. Guests will continue on to Palenque arriving there at midday where they

will accommodate to their hotel. (This will not include the Mexican migration fee of US $25.00).

Palenque-Campeche

Breakfast. Visit to the archaeological site, it is one of the most impressive sites of this culture. Compared to other

Mayan cities, it is consider medium size, smaller than Tikal or Copán, noted for its architectural and sculptural

heritage. Afterwards, visit to Campeche where guests will accommodated to their hotel.

Campeche-Uxmal-Merida

Breakfast. Guests will depart from Campeche and have a visit to Uxmal, an ancient Mayan city of the classical period.

Currently, it is one of the most important archaeological sites of the Mayan culture, along with Chichen Itza and Tikal.

It is located in the so-called Puuc region and is the most representative city of this architectural style. By midday guests

will arrive to Merida, capital of Yucatan to be accommodate to their hotel.

Flores - Candelaria Caves - Coban

Breakfast. In the morning, a shuttle will take guests to the Candelaria Caves, located north of Alta Verapaz in the

municipality of Chisec between the capital and the modern town of Raxruha. It consists of three different levels of

caves; at the lowest level Candelaria River flows while the other two are located in the pyramidal hills and mountains.

The Candelaria Caves are characteristic of this area because they are large and open with many windows on walls and

ceilings to let in light. The system was discovered in the 70s by the spelunker Daniel Dreux and in 2003, the 32 km2

around the river were declared "Candelaria Caves National Park". After wards guests will be transferred to their hotel

for accommodation.

Day 12. Tuesdays and Saturdays

Coban - Biotopo del Quetzal - Guatemala City.

Breakfast. In the morning they a visit to the Quetzals Biotope, one of the most interesting places in Baja Verapaz;

founded in 1,977. Despite being located in the municipality of Purulhá, the land belongs to the municipality of Salamá.

This is a beautiful place to visit and admire the incomparable beauty of the cloud forest. The reserve is one of the most

visited places in the country and aims for the conservation of the hábitat of El Quetzal. Later we continue our journey

to Guatemala City for hotel accommodation.

This time of year is undoubtedly the highest in all seasons of the year in Guatemala, so our company in this season

offers different travel options in Guatemala, being the most expensive option to stay in La Antigua Guatemala,

Lake Atitlan and Tikal. So we always recommend staying every night in Guatemala City to lower travel costs, but

yet we are willing to meet customer prefer to stay in these places for which we recommend making reservations up

The Easter season is one of the most beautiful expressions of faith in Guatemala. Particularly for

Antigua Guatemala, special from the religious aspect, Easter is an important event not only for

expressing various artistic expressions but to generate unprecedented economic progress as shown in a

recent report.

During Easter, we see the development of altars, ephemeral carpets, various crafts and special food that

form part of both a tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

DAY 1

SATURDAY MARCH 19

Clients transfer to the hotel and City Tour to see part of the city and some of the processions in

Guatemala City.

DAY 2

SUNDAY MARCH 20

BREAKFAST. Early today, we were heading towards the Pacaya volcano, which has an elevation of

2,552 m. Pacaya is an active volcano located in the town of San Vicente, which first erupted thousands

of years ago. It has had at least 23 eruptions since the Spanish colonization of the Americas in

Guatemala. After being dormant for a century it erupted violently again in 1965 and has since been in

constant eruptive activity. Much of its activity is Strombolian and occasionally Pliniano. In 2005, it was

declare a National Park and is a tourist attraction for both foreign and domestic visitors. It is located

47.5 km South of Guatemala City.

In the afternoon, we transfer to the Hot Springs of Santa Teresita.

MONDAY MARCH 21

Departure early in the morning flight to Flores and then go overland to the monumental archaeological

site of Tikal, the cradle of Maya civilization. Lunch and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 4

TUESDAY MARCH 22

BREAKFAST. In the morning you will be taken to visit the archaeological site known as Yaxha

Yaxhatambién. Yax - ha - ha- Yax is an archaeological site and a former ceremonial center of the Maya

civilization located in the North East of Petén , Guatemala about 30 km South East of Tikal.

The Mayan name of the city is evident in the emblem glyph (representing the head of a parrot) and reads

like Yax (green- blue), ha (water). The urban area was occupied for 16 centuries (600 BC - . 900BC).

Yaxhá is a classic Maya site nestled among the lagoons and Yaxhá Sacnab. On the opposite side of this

is Topoxté, the largest post classic site in Petén.

Afternoon transfer to airport and return to Flores, Guatemala City and then to La Antigua, Guatemala.

DAY 5

WEDNESDAY MARCH 23

BREAKFAST. This day we will visit the famous Chichicastenango market. It is impressive throughout

the year but especially during Easter and the religious celebrations. It is a town located 18 km from the

provincial capital and 145 km from Guatemala City. Most of the population consists of the indigenous

ethnic group of the Quiché. It is the largest municipality due to being a place of cultural, historical and

touristical importance. It was here where the PopolVuh, a Mayan religious book which tells of the origin

of mankind, was found . It was translated from the original Castilian Quiche written by Fray Francisco

Ximénez.

On the afternoon, visit Lake Atitlan, Solola, Guatemala. Lake Atitlan is one of the main economic

resources of this region as well as being a tourist center of visual appeal.

Lake Atilan is surrounded by beautiful volcanos: Lago Atitlan volcano (3,537m), Tolimán (3,158m) and

San Pedro (3,020m). The lake is located 1,560 meters above sea level and is 18 km in length. Its depth,

which varies in many ways, is unknown but some expert says is more than 350m deep.

There are 2 stories of thought with regards to the origin of Lake Atitlan. One believes that the lake is an

old dead crater and the emergence of other volcanoes interrupted along the course of the three rivers that

come from the North, which by bringing water into the area, gave rise to the lake. The lake has no

visible outlet. It is also said that where the lake is now, was an island that was the epicenter of activity in

the Mayan Pre- Classic period (600 BC - . 250 AD), since at that time the Mayans were grouped into

regions.

By late afternoon, we return to Antigua.

DAY 6

THURSDAY MARCH 24

BREAKFAST. This day we shall discover the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala.

The city of La Antigua is head of the homonymous municipality and the department of Sacatepequez,

Guatemala. According to the official 2003 census, it has a population of 44,097. It is renowned for its

well-preserved Spanish Renaissance architecture with baroque facades. As well as a large number of

churches, get on ruins. It was designated a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1979.

When it was first founded, it was named Santiago de los Caballeros and on 10th June 1566, King Philip

II granted it an extended title which translates to "Very Noble and Very Loyal City of Santiago de los

Caballeros de Goathemala”. Visit to the central square, La Merced Church, the old Cathedral, Jade

Factory and processions of the day.

DAY 7

FRIDAY MARCH 25

We leave very early on the morning to visit the streets where the famous carpets made by local people

on fruits, vegetables and bread. We will see the start of the procession of La Merced. Return to hotel for

breakfast and rest of day.

In the morning we visit the ancient archaeological site Iximche , ancient capital of the Mayan

Kakchiquel the place where the founding of Guatemala was held by the Spanish.

20% Penalty if the withdrawal occurs more than 6 days.

25% Penalty if tour is cancelled 5 days prior the date of arrival.

30% Penalty if tour is cancelled 3-4 days prior the date of arrival.
